A newsletter of the Washington State Health Care Authority Office of Recovery Support. |
|
This newsletter will offer resources, share information about the peer movement in Washington State (and maybe across the country!), and keep you informed on peer-related news and opportunities for education and career advancement.
This newsletter will also highlight peers, peer-run organizations, and share the hope that there should never be anything about us, without us!

Get to know HCA's peer team!
So, you think you’re ready to move to the next level as a certified peer counselor (CPC)? That’s wonderful news!
HCA is working steadily on growing the cadre of approved CPC trainers across Washington State. CPC trainers educate other peers looking to become certified.
Here is the step-by-step process:
- You must meet the qualifications:
- You must be a certified peer specialist (who has tested and been certified in Washington State).
- You must have at least 12 months of direct peer service with participants.
- All CPC trainers must by pre-approved by HCA. You can do this by filling out the trainer registry form.
- You must find a training mentor, and complete the trainee notification form.
- You and your mentor set goals, needs, and assess your ongoing progress. This process is guided by your mentor/trainee relationship.
- Once you and your mentor have accomplished your set goals, you are ready to complete the formal process.
Please reach out to Amanda Polley with any questions.

The Office of Recovery Partnerships (ORP) seeks to assist the behavioral health lived experience community by advocating for the creation of relevant, meaningful, culturally-honoring, community-driven opportunities of wellness.
ORP serves as a conduit for those who have lived experience with behavioral health challenges to shape, inform, and transform behavioral health systems in Washington State.
Our mission is to promote hope, resilience, and recovery for all peoples. We believe that recovery is attainable for all when systems fully respond to the needs and directives of those it serves. This is made possible by imbedding their VOICES and CHOICES in all aspects of whole person wellness.
Areas of focus:
- Facilitating a statewide Black, Native American/Indigenous, and Hispanic survey for behavioral health accessibility and resource knowledge, which will include community share back/listening sessions.
- Funding of WA SPEAKS, a statewide behavioral health lived experience speaker’s forum and public speaking training opportunity.
- Funding of UPLIFT, recovery advocacy trainings, and Voices of Recovery Summit.
- Assembling of the Office of Recovery Partnerships Community Steering Committee.
- Launching of the peer integration success pilot series and so much more.
