2023 Second Quarter Report Out

Message from Our Director

Greetings from Results Washington! We intend to share updates on the work my team has completed during the second quarter and what to expect in the third quarter from our partnership with cabinet agencies.  This report also reflects how my team and I embrace our responsibility to be accountable to outcomes, ourselves and our partners in our shared commitment to state government transparency. Our goal is to provide you an update that is in alignment with our strategic plan.

Performance Management

What we accomplished in Q2 What we expect to accomplish in Q3
  • Developed and increased the number of metrics on the website with work started in June
  • Continue to develop 25 additional metrics that will be added in July  
  • Planning is underway for two more Public Performance Review meetings with Governor Inslee
    • July – Outdoor Youth Learning Opportunities and Benefits
    • September – Transportation – Electrification of Ferries and Infrastructure

 

 

  • Finalized the business requirements for 'Enterprise Results Information System (ERIS)'. The new system will eventually replace the current system, the 'Results Through Performance Management (RPM)’ system.
  • Washington State Consolidated Technology Solutions (WaTech) will begin the development of proof of concept in collaboration with Results Washington’s input on the new ERIS system.
  • Provided leadership and guidance on nine performance audits (PA) underway by the State Auditor’s Office and three more are planned
  • Assisted with two management responses and public legislative hearings for SAO PA reports:
    • Washington Medical Commission – Opportunities are Present to Support the Commission’s Continued Efforts to Improve Timelier Licensing and an Efficient Disciplinary Process
    • Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission – Opportunities are Present to Support Efforts by the Commission to Speed Licensing
  • Continuing to foster SAO performance audits in development and fieldwork
  • Working with agencies to update action plans from prior SAO performance audits
  • Assisting with review, responses, and preparing for legislative hearings for SAO reports nearing completion:
    • Reducing risk through better IT legacy system management
    • Medicaid managed care rates
  • No JLARC preliminary reports anticipated




  • Continued strategic planning sessions with:
    • Washington Traffic Safety Commission
    • Washington State Governor’s Office for Regulatory Innovation and Assistance


  • Publish a strategy planning 101 guide to provide resources for Washington state agencies to develop strategic plans in alignment with Office of Financial Management guidelines
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions with
    • Office of Corrections Ombuds

 

Lean and Continuous Improvement

What we expect to accomplish in Q3

  • Announced the dates for the 12th annual Washington State Government Lean Transformation Conference, held October 17-26, 2023
  • “Transforming Ideas into Action” was selected as this year’s theme
  • Invited over 1,000 interested parties to submit a presentation for consideration to participate in the conference as a presenter
  • Hosted two informational sessions for potential presenters
  • Host a second informational session for potential presenters
  • Evaluate and score submissions and determine a schedule of events
  • Announce the conference keynote and Gov. Inslee’s participation
  • Registration open in September.


 

  • Plan three Enterprise-wide Lean and Continuous Improvement Community of Practice meetings
    • July – Enterprise Performance Management and Transparency: A Winning Combination
    • August – Lean Principles in Performance Management
    • September – Topic: TBD
