The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council has released its draft 2027-31 State Plan for a 45‑day public comment period. This is the final opportunity for people in Washington to review the proposed priorities and share feedback before the plan is finalized. The feedback survey opens April 23, 2026, and closes at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Every five years, the Council develops a new state plan outlining its goals, priorities and the steps it will take to achieve them. To ensure the plan reflects what people in Washington need, the Council invites the public to share their ideas and experiences.
Over the past year and a half, the Council has gathered information to help shape the new plan. It reviewed feedback from the Summer 2025 survey, analyzed data from multiple sources and discussed key issues with council members. This work informed the draft 2027-31 State Plan.
The Council is now seeking public input. The comment period is an opportunity to share what you think, identify what may be missing and highlight what the Council should prioritize. Public feedback will help strengthen the final plan and ensure it reflects the needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
