A new pilot program aimed at improving nutrition is here! This summer, the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have joined forces to start Virginia SUN Bucks. This program will provide extra money to some families with school-aged kids to help with the costs of groceries (including fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grains, dairy and meat) at grocery stores, farmers markets, and other places that accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) EBT benefits.

UVA's Cancer Center is hosting a free cancer education workshop this August at the Mindfulness Center (560 Ray C. Hunt Dr., Charlottesville, VA 22903) from 9 AM to 2 PM. The exact date is TBD and will be based on participant availability. A lunch break and free meal will be provided.
