Dear Bucknell Families,
We had another great week at Bucknell Elementary! It was wonderful to see so many families at Back-to-School Night. We enjoyed connecting with you, looking at our school data together, and discussing our Title I status.
Title I is a federal program that provides additional support and resources to schools based on the needs of their students and families. These resources help us provide meaningful academic support and opportunities for our students. We are grateful for your partnership and involvement as we continue working together to support every child.
We are also extremely excited about our attendance progress! Our goal is for every student to miss no more than 10 days during the entire school year. At this time last year, our chronic absenteeism rate was 12.4%. This year, we have reduced that rate to 5.6%! This is an accomplishment we are very proud of early in the school year!
This growth takes a strong partnership between school and home. Thank you for helping your child attend school every day, arrive on time, and remain engaged in learning.
We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, September 22!
With gratitude,
Rashida Green, Principal

Rashida Green, Principal

As schools continue implementing the student ID badge program, please ensure to review the following important information:
- Students may attach their badge to a backpack or other bag, provided the badge is accessible and can reach the scanner when boarding or exiting the bus.
- Students should not be denied transportation because they forgot or do not have their badge. Transportation staff and bus drivers have been reminded of this expectation.
- Students with sensory, medical, or other documented concerns should not be forced to wear the badge. A driver or assisting adult may scan the badge for the student.
Additional information, including frequently asked questions, Office Hours responses, training materials, badge and printer instructions, troubleshooting guidance, and technical support resources, is available on the Office of Transportation Services Atlas page:
School Bus Navigation and Student ID Cards: Training and Support Resources
Thank you for supporting a consistent and positive implementation of the student ID badge program.

The FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) booklet explains expectations for student behavior and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment. This year’s SR&R includes new Universal Grade Matrices, which are at-a-glance charts that make it easier for families to see behavior expectations and school responses for grades K-3, 4-8, and 9-12.
We ask that families please review the SR&R and discuss these expectations with your child. Be sure to sign the SR&R acknowledgement form by Wednesday, September 30, either by logging into SIS ParentVUE or signing and returning the Signature Sheet to your child’s school.
Learn more by watching a short video about the SR&R (available in English and Spanish) or visiting the SR&R webpage.
