Three Hour Early Release Monday,12/09 Update
On Monday, December 9th, we will dismiss at 1:05 pm
Plan for Students:
As we plan forward for December 9th, you should receive an email indicating what we understand your plan to be for your child(ren). If you need to change that plan, there will be a form included in the email for you to notify us of any changes. We ask that no changes be made to the plan you have indicated for your child after the end of the day on Thursday, December 5th.
Playground and Staying On School Premises:
On 3 hour early release days, school remains in session for students staying until 4:05 pm. To ensure these students' safety, we ask that parents and students who dismiss at 1:05 do not remain on school grounds including the playground, basketball court, blacktop, field, etc. We use these spaces in our plan for the students who remain with us until the 4:05 dismissal time.
Additionally, after-school clubs and events that plan to take place on school grounds on early release Mondays require prior approval from the principal. Any students who dismissed at 1:05 or adults on school property between 1:05 and 4:05 will be asked to leave. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe!
Remaining 3 Hour Early Release Dates:
The dates for the remaining three hour release Mondays are as follows: 12/9, 2/24, 3/17, 4/28 and 5/19. These three early release Mondays provide time for our teachers to complete up to 27 hours of literacy instruction training required by the Virginia Literacy Act.
Haycock Book Fair- Starts December 10!
Haycock’s Book Fair is coming!
Sales will be 12/10-12/13 & 12/16 during the school day and Family Night on Thursday 12/12 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.
If you are able to share your time to help, thank you! Sign up here to volunteer with set up, pack up, sales, restocks or general help.
To make shopping easy and safe, we’re offering digital eWallets as one payment option so that students won’t need to bring money to school.
The eWallet is individual to a student, linked to a parent’s credit card for simple cash-free shopping. Only the actual purchase amount is charged to the card, up to the limit you set in advance. Set up your child’s eWallet here.
Thank you for supporting our library and promoting reading through our Book Fair!
Feel free to contact Ms. Sklar with any questions or suggestions.
Here is the November Counselor Corner with important information about the SEL Screener, classroom lessons by grade levels, upcoming school events, and resources for parents from Ms. Padgett and Ms. Lilienthal, our Haycock counselors.
The FCPS CARES Program allows parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care about their students, colleagues, and the community. We invite you to submit a story below to acknowledge the great work of an FCPS employee or group of employees who should receive FCPS CARES recognition.
Ways to Help Your Child at Home
Many times parents ask how they can help their child at home. FCPS has created Literacy Resources for Parents that mirrors the instruction we are providing at school. Additionally, make sure to check out the Family Facing Curriculum by Grade Level so you know what each grade level is working on and learning about. Together, when we partner home and school, our children grow and learn to their highest potential.
