Get2Green Symposium

Get2Green is FCPS’ sustainability program, and supports green teams at schools with hands-on environmental projects to improve the sustainability of the school and community.

1. Message from Mr. Greata

Good Afternoon Woodson,

Spring is bustling with activity, showcased at our recent softball and baseball senior nights. A hearty congratulations to all our seniors, and heartfelt thanks to the parents whose support made those evenings truly memorable. With our Spring senior athletes duly honored, our focus now shifts to districts, kicked off with boys and girls tennis matches yesterday. Keep an eye on woodsonsports.com for updates on upcoming district competitions.

Did you know that our school boasts one of the most robust Get2Green initiatives in the county? Our environmental club tends to an extensive garden yielding potatoes, greens, and carrots, among other delights. Just last year, their efforts culminated in a generous donation of 700 lbs of produce to Food for Others. Recently, Joseph Tso and Andrew Kim showcased our school's environmental stewardship to FCPS administrators, igniting inspiration for similar endeavors. Meanwhile, Syd Huffman and Victoria Shittu shared their transformative journey at the Get2Green Symposium, highlighting the profound impact of environmental education on their holistic development. Additionally, Emma Fig and her troop added a touch of Springtime splendor to our outside dining space and built some beautiful butterfly gardens.

Attention all former Little Run Roadrunners, families, and friends! Join us as we celebrate Little Run's 60th Anniversary on Saturday, May 18th from 11 am to 2 pm. It promises to be a day brimming with joy, delicious food, melodious tunes, engaging games, and cherished memories. RSVP and volunteer for the event through the provided link to ensure your spot in this special occasion.

A resounding applause to Nathaniel Kurland, who stands among the illustrious few - one of only 7 FCPS students awarded corporate-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Such recognition is reserved for the brightest minds, with a mere 770 National Merit finalists chosen to receive this prestigious honor. Bravo!

As we gear up for the weekend, let's not forget that next week marks both Teacher Appreciation Week and National School Nurse Day on May 8th. Let's come together to express our gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional dedication and care our teachers and staff shower upon our students each day.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead,

Kevin Greata
Principal
