Belvedere News and Announcements - April 26, 2024

From the Administration

Dear Belvedere Family:

I am thrilled to share some exciting news. Our International Baccalaureate (IB) evaluation report has arrived, and I am delighted to inform you that it is outstanding. The glowing feedback we received is a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff and the exceptional quality of education we provide here at Belvedere. This achievement is something we all can take pride in and will celebrate together during the Family Learning Festival in May.

Additionally, I am pleased to report that our school had the privilege of hosting leaders from Region 2 last week. They were deeply impressed by the high levels of learning evident throughout our school. In particular, they highlighted the remarkable student agency and engagement, as well as the differentiated support provided while maintaining rigorous standards for all students. This recognition speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of our entire school community.

On another note, I am happy to report that our kindergarten orientation was a resounding success. Last night, we welcomed rising kindergarteners and their parents to learn about the school year ahead. The students were brimming with excitement, especially when they had the chance to meet our beloved chickens!

As we move forward into the remainder of the school year, let's continue to work together to provide the best possible educational experience for our students. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in this journey.

Best regards,

Cecilia Vanderhye, Principal

Tara Boone, Assistant Principal

Kelly Cabezas, Assistant Principal

May 16th - 5:30 - 7 p.m.

We welcome all students and families to join us on May 16th from 5:30 - 7 p.m. for Belvedere Family Fun and Learning Festival. There will be resources, games, and activities for all. The event will happen rain or shine!

🖍️ It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!

Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps us plan so that we have the teachers and resources needed on the first day of school.

Prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms. We are happy to support families with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For more information in other languages, visit FCPS’ Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Dads at Belvedere (DAB)

Dads at Belvedere (formerly Watch D.O.G.S.) is a program to help our school be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role-model. Dads this is your chance to get involved in a fun atmosphere at school!

Dads will volunteer at the school for one full day. School will provide the schedule to include activities such as: recess, lunch, specials, classroom time, etc.

Our kids love seeing the grown-ups in their life at school! Additionally, Dads are demonstrating through their presence that education is important.
