New Student Information Assistant

Please join me in welcoming Ms. Amani Kirk, as our new Student Information Assistant. Amani has done a wonderful job as our office assistant the past couple of school years and will now take over as our SIA. She “officially” begins her new role as SIA on Monday, March 4th. If you happen to see her while at school, please congratulate her on her new role as our SIA. 🎉

Read Across America Spirit Week

Last Friday was our annual Bingo Night and Ice Cream Social sponsored by the PTA.

Thank you to our chairs, Lauren Hertling and Arati Mahna for organizing this program for our school community.

Families enjoyed ice cream from Cold Stone Creamery and many prizes for kids and adults. Thank you to all who attended and supported this wonderful event - it was nice to see so many families having fun!

Bus Driver Appreciation 🚌

February was Love the Bus Month, and February 22 was School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. Forestville gave each of our bus drivers a goodie bag filled with treats!

FCPS employs more than 1,800 drivers who transport an estimated 131,000 students safely to and from school each day.

Our drivers and attendants take pride in being the first FCPS face students see in the morning and the last one they see before heading home for the evening.

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is gearing up to honor and celebrate its military-connected youth in April, the Month of the Military Child and on Purple Up! Day!

This year, Virginia will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 17. Purple Up! Day is a special day for communities to come together and wear purple as a visible gesture of support for our military-connected youth and their families. Purple symbolizes the combined colors of all branches of the military.

FCPS Purple Up! t-shirts are available for purchase now through Friday, March 8, 2024 here. The shirts highlight our gratitude and appreciation for our 14,000 military-connected students and their families. #PurpleUpFCPS!

Family Engagement Survey to Open March 3

FCPS is partnering with independent firm K12 Insight to administer our third Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Sunday, March 3, to Friday, March 22. Our families' feedback is critical in helping us to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs in our schools. Topics include:

  • Welcoming environment
  • Communication
  • Student success
  • Advocacy
  • Family and school partnerships
  • Community partnerships

The survey will be available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.

Parents/caregivers will receive the survey link via email from K12 Insight on March 3. A public link will be posted on FCPS’ website. Paper surveys will also be available at each school. Please stay tuned for more information.
