Haycock Hello 2.26.24

jump

Dear Haycock Families,

We will be saying goodbye and wishing Ms. Delaney all the best on Friday, March 1.  This will be her last day at Haycock.  She begins Monday, March 4 as the assistant principal at Sunrise Valley ES.

Also on Monday, March 4, Ms. Cathleen Barry will join us as our acting assistant principal as we begin the interviewing and selection process to hire a new assistant principal. Ms. Barry comes to us from the Office of School Support.  She has been a classroom teacher, a special education specialist, and a summer school administrator.  We are excited to welcome Ms. Barry!

Congratulations to all our students who were honored on Friday night by the FCCPTA (Fairfax County Council Parent Teacher Association) for their Reflections Contest entries.  Some of our students are going on to the state competition.   Again, all students who chose to participate in this celebration of the arts (literature, visual arts, dance, music, film...) should be commended.  We are proud of you.

Thank you for all who participated in the Kids Heart Challenge by contributing to the fundraising for the American Heart Association (see details below) or by joining your student during their PE class and maybe even doing some jump roping.

The PTA Silent Auction is fast approaching.  We hope to see you there!

With appreciation for your partnership,

Liz Beaty, Principal embeaty@fcps.edu

Heather Boyd, AP  HABoyd@fcps.edu

Jody Delaney, AP  jmdelaney@fcps.edu

Kids Heart Challenge Thank You

Thank you all so much for the donations to the Kids Heart Challenge!  Our donation time frame has ended.  Haycock raised $18,210.86  for the American Heart Association to help people with sick hearts.  We had 185 students register, and 14 of them completed Finn’s Mission to learn hands-only CPR.  Our top fundraisers were Miles D. in 6th grade and Will P. in 2nd grade.  Your donations also earned Haycock’s physical education department $1,300 in gift certificates.  These gift certificates will go towards the physical education program equipment needs.   Larger prizes and gift sets that have been earned by our students for their donations will be distributed in a few weeks after I have received and sorted them here at Haycock.  Thank you again!
