AAP Referral Forms

Reminder:  Window for Full-time AAP Referrals Closes on December 15, 2023

Parents/guardians of students in Grades 2-7 who would like their student to be considered for full-time advanced academic programs may submit the AAP Full-Time (Level IV) Referral Form to Brittany Wade at bwade@fcps.edu  no later than December 15, 2023

The window for families to submit a referral for full-time AAP services is the first day of school through December 15, annually.  Forms for full-time and part-time referrals are available on the AAP Forms Page. No late referrals for Full-Time AAP services will be accepted.

Submitting a referral form for full-time AAP will initiate a process that begins at the local school and is then completed at the central office level. Our school will put together a portfolio that includes multiple data which are considered holistically. At the central office level, a committee of six trained professionals from various schools and roles will review the portfolio materials to determine eligibility for full-time placement.  Eligibility decisions are communicated by early April. Parents may request a copy of the portfolio that was submitted after they have been turned in for central selection by emailing Brittany Wade at bwade@fcps.edu.

Referrals for subject-specific and part-time AAP are screened at the local school. If you miss this deadline, your student can still be screened for subject-specific AAP or part-time AAP for the remainder of the year and submit a referral for full-time AAP next fall.

For more information, please visit the Advanced Academic Programs website.

FCPS Cares - Recognizing VRES Staff Members

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We love our staff members at Virginia Run ES! Help us celebrate and recognize their hard work and dedication to our students by submitting a FCPS Cares message here. It only takes 2 minutes to write a note and is shared with the staff member and our administration team. This is ongoing. Entries may be submitted at any time during the school year.

Westfield Pyramid Kindness T-Shirts

Westfield Pyramid Schools are committed to promoting kindness,
empathy, and inclusion. Schools will celebrate Kindness Week in
February and we invite all students and staff in the Westfield Pyramid
to wear their “We Choose Kindness” apparel signifying a personal
commitment to choosing kindness. We are offering short-sleeve shirts
and hooded sweatshirts in black with white and pink ink. Why pink? The color is based on an anti-bullying campaign started by Travis Price and David Shepherd, who took a stand for a fellow student who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school.

Order forms are due by January 12th and items will be delivered to your child’s classroom prior to Kindness Week in February. If you would like to purchase, please complete the form that is in your child's Wednesday folder and return to Jenna DeKeuster (school counselor) with checks made out to Virginia Run PTA.

Box Tops for Education

Hello VIRGINIA RUN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL families!

Gone are the days where we would cut out Box Tops from cereal boxes and other hard to cut items!  Now there is an app where you can scan your receipt and viola!  Our school gets credit.

Box Tops is a fast and easy way for you to support VRES!  Our goal is to earn $1,000.00 through the Box Tops app this year. We have currently earned $76.30 and are 8% of the way there!

Here’s how you can help us reach our goal:

Let’s give our teachers the support they need and give more kids the opportunity to dream. Little by little, we can help make a big difference!
