THIS WEEK AT MADISON
WEEK OF 10/16/23
IMPORTANT INFO & EVENTS
Food Deliveries
- Parents are welcome to drop off food for their student in the main office on the ‘I Forgot Shelf.’ For safety reasons, food deliveries are NOT permitted throughout the school day. The front office will not accept any deliveries and Security will turn away any drivers who attempt to make a delivery. Students who disregard this guidance will be subject to disciplinary consequences.
Cell Phone/Airpod/Headphone/Smartwatch Use
- We have seen an increase in classroom distractions from electronics over the past few weeks. We have asked staff to revisit these expectations with students and ensure that students are attending to tasks in the classroom. We ask that parents talk to their students about these expectations. As a reminder and in line with the Fairfax County Public Schools SR&R, students will not be permitted to use their cell phones during class unless permitted by the teacher for instructional purposes, this includes using Airpods, smartwatches or headphones. Research shows that managing phone use during class time supports students’ attention and ability to fully engage in their learning. Learn how to use the schooltime function on an Apple Watch. Impact Aid
- Impact Aid programs and grants are designed to assist local school districts that enroll federally connected students. Starting in October 2023, FCPS parents will have the option to fill out the Federal Impact Aid Survey online through their ParentVue account. Visit the FCPS website for directions.

One School | One Community | One World
Madison High School strives to create and maintain an identity affirming learning environment where our students embrace, support, and encourage each other where multiple forms of identity (i.e. race, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or disability) are recognized and regarded as assets for teaching and learning. We work to ensure school is a place where students feel safe and can be themselves. We do not tolerate hate speech, racist speech, bias, or acts of discrimination in our school. We want all students to feel a sense of belonging. We want to see all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are committed to learning, growing, and building the best Madison High School for all our students. We are One School - One Community - One World.
