Book Fair is Next Week!!

Next week, your child will preview the book fair!  A flyer highlighting popular books went home today in the Wednesday Folder for browsing.  You may also browse for more selections on our book fair homepage.

If you would like to purchase books during the fair, you are welcome to…

  • Send in money with your child (your child’s teacher will send students to the library at a convenient time in the class schedule)
  • Shop with your child during our after school shopping hours 
  • Use the Scholastic link to order from our book fair homepage.

Book Fair Hours:

  • Monday – Preview Only (during school day)
  • Tuesday - 9:00am - 7:30pm (Family Shopping Night)
  • Wednesday - 9:00am - 4:30pm
  • Thursday - 9:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday - 9:00am - 12:00pm

If you choose to make a purchase at the book fair, please note:

  • We do not charge tax
  • Checks should be made payable to Oak Hill ES
  • Credit cards are accepted

Children must be accompanied by an adult to shop after school.

PTA Meeting- 10/18

Advanced Academic News

Mrs. Lahr, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, will be conducting another virtual presentation on Monday, November 6th at 6:00 to discuss the Level IV screening process.  The Zoom link will be sent out closer to the date.

AAP Deadlines

Friday 10/14  Level IV Fall Referrals due to Mrs. Lahr for students new to FCPS in grade 3-6. To access the level IV screening form click here

Thursday 12/15 Level IV Referrals due to Mrs. Lahr for students in grades 2-6.  More information about the parent forms and process will be discussed at the presentation on November 6th.

Lost and Found!

With the changing weather, we have accumulated a LOT of sweatshirts in our Lost and Found.  If you come into school to volunteer, for lunch or to attend the Book Fair, please look through and claim your child's sweatshirt.  We try to return anything with a name or even initials in it, so please consider labeling your child's outdoor clothing in some way.  Thank you.

Save the Date:  PTA General Meeting October 18th

Please join us in the Oak Hill cateteria next Wednesday, October 18th, from 6:30-7:30pm for our first in-person PTA general meeting of the year. Bring your dinner from that evening's Chipotle fundraiser and help us plan our events for the 2023-24 school year.

 

PTA Reflections Contest

Do you enjoy art, music and dance or have an interest in writing, producing films and taking photos? Then join us and have fun unleashing your inner artist with PTA Reflections!

This year’s theme, “I am Hopeful Because….” calls for your own unique interpretation through the arts.

Parent Volunteers Needed for Educational Programs!

We are seeking parent volunteers to supervise the Spelling Bee, First Lego League and First Lego League Jr., Math Kangaroo, and Science Olympiad Division B (5th-6th grade) programs. Chantilly Haunted House

Chantilly High School 11th Annual Haunted House

Saturday, October 28th.   1-5 pm (less scary).  6-10pm (for braver goblins).  Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.  More details are available at https://chshauntedhouse.com/ 

Stem Fest at South County High School 

Students are invited to participate in STEM FEST on Saturday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at South County High School. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade can participate in robotics demonstrations, coding experiments, and more. High school students are invited to volunteer. Rise Against Hunger

On November 3 all Rocky Run MS  grade students will have the opportunity to earn at least one service hour during the school day. Rise Against Hunger will be coming to Rocky Run and 8th graders will be packing meals that will be
sent to areas with food insecurity. In order to pack 30,024 meals we need to raise$12,000! Donations go directly to Rise Against Hunger to support Rocky Run’s packing day. Please share with your friends, family,  local business, and
employers!
