SEL Screener Information and Parent Workshop

Parents in grades 3-6, soon you will be receiving your child’s SEL screener results in the mail.  FCPS has created a webpage dedicated to helping parents understand the results of the SEL screener data, how to talk to your child about the screener data, and conversation starters/skill builders for each of the domains.  Please take advantage of these resources.

Our Stenwood Mental Health Team will be offering a Parent Coffee on Tuesday, 1/31 at 8:30am on Zoom.  During this time, the team will share about SEL (Social Emotional Learning), about the screener itself, talk about how to interpret results, and share some of the supports Stenwood has in place for students.  A link will be provided at a closer date.  This session will be recorded for anyone who is unable to attend.

Parents and Guardians of Rising 7th Graders

It’s that time of year where your children start the transition process for Middle School! You may have received the following information via post mail or e-notify from Kilmer and Thoreau too, but just in case we are putting it in Hive Happenings for your convenience. Below are links to the Rising 7th grade events that are happening at Kilmer and Thoreau soon.

They will provide information on this process.

UPDATE! Both Kilmer and Thoreau Middle School Counselors are coming to Stenwood on Friday February 10th, 9:00-9:45 AM to guide students on course registration. Since 6th graders will be registering for their middle school courses that day please make sure their laptops are fully charged and they also bring them to school. We kindly ask to avoid making any appointments (dentist, doctors etc.) on this date and time.

Should you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact Ms. Hapangama.
