Dear Fairhill Families,
Wow! Fall is really here! The trees surrounding Fairhill are turning to a beautiful red, brown, orange or yellow which makes the walk or bus ride to and from Fairhill each day absolutely stunning for our students.
Speaking of fall, this Friday is not only an early release for our students (2:05 PM) but also our Fall Festival! Our PTA has worked and is still working hard to put this phenomenal event together and it’s not just lip service when we say how much our teachers and staff value our PTA, as well as the rest of our community. Evening events like the Fall Festival are a great time to build connections and relationships between school and community. In addition to the quality time together, research tells us that school and community connections are a huge driver of positive student success. Hopefully you are able to join us and meet other Fairhill families and Fairhill staff. Please consider signing up to volunteer using the sign-up link below.
As always, our primary role is to support students and families so never hesitate to reach out if we can support you or your student.
All our best,
Ted & Courtney

Every October, our oldest Tigers promote on the school news the idea of philanthropy – sharing your time, talent, or treasure with others. Students are invited to share some of their treasure (leftover or extra Halloween candy) with Second Story (a refuge for homeless teens), the Children’s Hospital and military troops overseas (Operation Gratitude). Last year, Fairhill students collected over 500 pounds of candy to share! We hope to do the same this year, so please encourage your Tigers to send in any candy they would like to share November 1st – 4th. Thank you for helping us show that #OtherPeopleMatter! |
National Anthem at Falls Church HS
The students of Fairhill have been invited along with all the other elementary schools in our pyramid to sing the National Anthem before a Falls Church HS Football Game! The students have been working very hard to learn and sing the National Anthem over the past few weeks and this is a wonderful opportunity for our students in grades K-6 to perform for an audience. Each family will receive one ticket to the game for a parent or guardian. What you need to know:
Where: Falls Church High School - 7521 Jaguar Trail, Falls Church, VA 22042
When: Friday November 4th. Meet in FCHS auditorium for warm up at 6:00 PM
Transportation: Families will need to drop off at entrance 8. Pick up by parents next to the bleachers on the far side of the stadium (away from the entrance) or in the auditorium lobby (FCHS Door 8). Students will not be released to parents waiting in vehicles in the parking lot for their safety. Students should be picked up no later than 7:05 p.m.

Federal Impact Aid Survey
Please check your students' Tuesday folder today. Each eligible student at Fairhill received a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
Returning this form is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's teacher. If Sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All responses are confidential.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Anne Kane ackane@fcps.edu.

Dunn Loring Repurposing Project Community Meeting- November 10
Join us Thursday, November 10, for a community meeting to learn more about the Dunn Loring repurposing project, a Fairfax County Public Schools capital project funded by a voter-approved bond referendum. During this meeting, you will learn more about the project and design process to date and have an opportunity to share your views on the project and design process. Public feedback will be shared with the Fairfax County Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, School Board, and FCPS staff on the community’s view of the project and design process to date. Please be aware, at this stage in the design and construction process, no major changes may be made but small adjustments may be considered.
The November 10 community meeting will be a hybrid event, allowing participants to choose to attend in person at the Gatehouse Administrative Center (8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church) or virtually via Zoom. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Language interpretation will be provided based on the availability of interpretation staff.
