WordMasters Champions

The WordMasters Challenge is a national competition for students in grades 3-8 that encourages students to become familiar with a set of interesting new words, and then challenges them to use those words to complete analogies.  Each year, thousands of students from schools throughout the United States participate in the WordMasters Challenge in grades 3-8.

This year Lees Corner had 149 students competing in grades 3-6. These students worked very hard this year preparing for each of three meets given throughout the year.

We are proud to say that 7 students scored in the top 2% of the nation earning High Honors in the extra challenging Gold Division. In addition to that, 11 of our students scored in the top 10% of the nation, receiving Honorable Mention recognition.

We would like to especially acknowledge the students who had the highest cumulative or overall scores for the three meets at their respective grade levels here at Lees Corner:

  • Grade 3- Emma Mecham – Honorable Mention
  • Grade 4- Shashaank Thammishetti – High Honors
  • Grade 5- Cecilia Frank – High Honors
  • Grade 6- Ellie Cartmill – High Honors

Congratulations to all of our participating students!
