COVID-19 Testing Site

We understand there are growing concerns with the increase in positive COVID cases.  Our school data ended much better at the end of this school week. We continue to collaborate with the Health Department, our Public Health Nurse, and FCPS School Health Services Specialists to ensure we are following all protocols and focusing on safety for all.

In cooperation with the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD), Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) will provide COVID testing tomorrow from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Floris Elementary School.

Please see this letter for more information.

Teacher Appreciation Week

taw

Next week is Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week! Help us celebrate the work of our wonderful staff by joining in the daily activities outlined in this flier.

SOL Testing Schedule--Next Week

test

Wednesday, May 4 --  5th and 6th grade students will take the Reading test

Thursday, May 5th -- 3rd and 4th graders will take the Reading test

Friday, May 6th -- 3rd graders will take part 2 of the Reading test

Testing in most classrooms will begin by 9:15 AM each day so it is very important that students arrive at school on time and no later than 9:00 AM.

Tests are untimed so students may have as much time as they need. Many students, but not all, do finish by lunch time. If you will be picking your child up early, please call the school to see if your child has finished testing or not.

SOL Information for Parents

parent meeting

If your child is in grade 3, 4, 5, or 6, you know that SOL testing starts next week. But do you know what the SOLs are and why kids take them? Do you have more questions than answers?

If you would like to learn more about SOLs, please view this presentation.

Electronic Device Policy

sd

Please remember that while students are in school, they should not use their devices to send or receive messages. Also, they should not be receiving audible alerts. Please check the settings on your child's device to make sure the notifications are turned off.

As we approach SOL testing, it is important to know that cell phones and other electronic devices that can photograph, record, transmit, or receive information will NOT be allowed in testing locations. During testing, students will have to turn off or silence their devices and store them in backpacks outside of the testing room. You may choose to have your child leave their device at home on testing days.

Parents of 6th graders -- we need your pictures!

For the annual 6th grade luncheon posters and slideshow, we need the following for your 6th grade child:

  1. Five digital photos of your 6th grader. These photos can be any pictures you like, showing your child through the years.
  2. Kindergarten Photos.  If your child was not at Lees Corner for Kindergarten, please send in a up close, front facing photo of your child aged 5-6.  A school photo would be ideal.
  3. Class Events, Musicals, Plays and Field Trips - Three Piggy Opera, Go Fish, Go West, field trips, etc.  Video clips are welcome too.

You can email these pictures to lces.2022.photos@gmail.com. Make sure the email subject has your child's full name. Please send these before April 29th.  Thank you!
