Standards of Learning (SOL) Updates
Students will begin testing the SOLs next week. Students’ families (grades 3-6) should have received confirmation of which dates they will be taking SOLs. If you are unsure when your student will be testing, please contact your student's teacher.

National Poetry Month/Poem in Your Pocket Day
April is National Poetry Month. In celebration, the Riverside Library will be encouraging students to read, write, and share poetry. Please join us in promoting Poem in Your Pocket Day on Friday, April 29th. On this day, students can carry poems in their pockets and share them during the day with our school community. Large “pocket posters” will also be on display throughout the school with poems students can take and read.
Teacher Appreciation Week: May 2nd - May 6th
 Teacher Appreciation Week is quickly approaching! Please acknowledge the amazing work our Riverside's teachers and staff have done this school year with a kind note or a small gift of appreciation.
Free Tutoring
 Beginning April 14, FCPS students will have unlimited access to online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost to families. Student participation is optional, and parents/guardians can opt their student(s) out of accessing the services. Detailed information and FAQs are available on the Tutor.com Online Tutoring Services website.
Students will be able to access Tutor.com via a link in Schoology. Additional information about how to log in and access a tutor is provided to families via the following instructional videos:

Riverside Elementary PTA
 There is still time to join the PTA for the last couple months of the school year! Riverside Elementary PTA is a partnership between teachers, parents and the school administration. We organize events to celebrate our community, raise money to support special learning programs, and volunteer wherever needed. PTA Board Nominations for the 2022-2023 School Year
The PTA is looking for nominees for the Vice President of Membership and Treasurer board positions for school year 2022-2023. The Vice President keeps tracks of members who join the PTA and updates the member hub website. The Treasurer maintains the PTA budget and keeps track of all funds and finances of the PTA. Both positions will be a great opportunity to help plan and assist with activities the PTA sponsors. Spring Arts and Crafts Festival

STEM at Marymount University
 Come enjoy a day of STEM at Marymount University on Saturday, April 23!
The School of Education will be hosting "STEM Across the Globe!"
Here is a small glimpse of the activities we have planned: Make a roller coaster, create clouds, and participate in a balloon rocket race!
This is a FREE event for students in grades PK-8, their families, teachers, and principals.

VIP Camp
FCPS in partnership with Neighborhood and Community Services will be hosting VIP Camp (Values in Prevention) at Sandburg Middle School. The camp will be June 29-July28 from 8:00am-4:00pm. The camp will consist of Sports, STEAM Activities, Cooking and several exciting field trips!
There is a $50 VIP Registration Fee that will be collected from camp participants. Students who submit the VIP Camp Registration Form will be notified if they have been accepted into camp. Accepted participants will receive a confirmation email along with further camp instructions. Payment will be due after receiving confirmation of acceptance and no later than Friday, June 3rd. Transportation and lunch will be provided, and sites will be open at 8AM for parent drop off.

Abril es el Mes Nacional de la Poesía. Para celebrar, la biblioteca de Riverside alentará a los estudiantes a leer, escribir y compartir poesía. Únase a nosotros en la promoción del día del “Poema en tu Bolsillo” el viernes 29 de abril. Ese día, los estudiantes pueden llevar poemas en sus bolsillos y compartirlos con nuestra comunidad escolar.

Tutoría gratuita
A partir del 14 de abril, los estudiantes de FCPS tendrán acceso ilimitado a los servicios de apoyo de tutoría en línea a través de Tutor.com sin costo alguno para las familias. La participación de los estudiantes es opcional, y los padres/tutores pueden optar por que sus estudiantes no accedan a los servicios. PTA de Riverside Elementary

El Tesorero mantiene el presupuesto de la PTA y realiza un seguimiento de todos los fondos y finanzas de la PTA. Ambos puestos serán una gran oportunidad para ayudar a planificar y ayudar con las actividades que patrocina la PTA. STEM en Marymount University
Venga a disfrutar de un día de STEM en Marymount University el sábado 23 de abril!
La Escuela de Educación será la anfitriona de "STEM Across the Globe!"

Campo de VIP
FCPS, en asociación con Servicios Comunitarios y Vecinales, organizará el Campamento VIP (Valores en la prevención) en la escuela secundaria Sandburg. El campamento será del 29 de junio al 28 de julio de 8:00 am a 4:00 pm. ¡El campamento consistirá en deportes, actividades STEAM, cocina y varias excursiones emocionantes!
Hay una tarifa de registro VIP de $50 que se cobrará a los participantes del campamento. Se notificará a los estudiantes que envíen el formulario de registro del campamento VIP si han sido aceptados en el campamento. Los participantes aceptados recibirán un correo electrónico de confirmación junto con más instrucciones sobre el campamento. El pago vencerá después de recibir la confirmación de aceptación y no más tarde del viernes 3 de junio. Se proporcionará transporte y almuerzo, y los sitios estarán abiertos a las 8 a.m. para que los padres los dejen.
