FCPS WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORTS

All parents/guardians of Middle School and High School students who have registered for a SIS ParentVUE Account and have a primary email address recorded in SIS ParentVUE can receive Weekly Progress Reports via email. This report provides a summary of your student(s) grades for the current quarter.

To activate the Weekly Progress Reports via email, login to your SIS ParentVUE Account and first verify that you have a primary email address within the system. It is listed under the “My Account” tab. If it is blank, enter the email address where you would like to receive the progress reports and click on update account. Once confirmed, parents/guardians are able to activate and select their preferences for receiving these reports within the SIS ParentVUE “My Account” tab.

Weekly progress reports for all of your Middle and High School students will be included in one email. FCPS Elementary Schools do not use the SIS grade book and therefore are not included in these reports.

For questions about a specific progress report or grade you can login into your SIS ParentVUE Account to find detailed grade book information. Additionally, your student’s teacher is always the best resource to answer any grade book questions that you may have.

Support for our Ram Family Members

Kaitlynn and Doug Kraemer, two of our high school math teachers, are sharing their story here: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/beautifuldorothy regarding their family journey to support their beautiful daughter Dorothy, recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Their almost two year old has started treatment. Robinson is in the process of organizing a Go For the Gold fundraising event to support the Kraemers. We know that our Robinson family wants to show support.

Please use this link to access 3 ways to help: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/beautifuldorothy/support

Please send your thoughts and prayers to the entire family. We are grateful to our staff members who have stepped up to cover classes, organize meals and gift card collection, and expressed their love and support.

New Activities Added for 2nd Quarter

2nd Quarter Activity Schedule

2nd Quarter Club List & Descriptions

Activity Period: 3:00-4:30pm

Late bus service days: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays; departing 4:50pm. (RSLR 5 & 11 depart at 5:00pm) Parent pick-up is at entrance #1.

Updates are posted on the Schoology grade level streams and club lists, descriptions, and quarter schedule in the MS Club & Activity folder located in the Resource tab.

Club & Activity Sign-up Procedure

For clubs and activities meeting on late bus days, students sign-up using the After School Sign-up form posted at 9:30am on their grade level Schoology Group page for activities meeting that day. If a program fills, students will need to select from the remaining options. Students staying for Tuesday and/or Friday activities report directly to the meeting location and there is no need to sign-up.

Select programs require a separate registration due to design and time commitment, therefore, students do not need to sign-up for each meeting.

Social Work Spotlight

by Kristen Licciardo

grat

It is a time for us to focus on gratitude. According to Amy Morin, LCSW, author of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do “mentally strong people choose to exchange self-pity for gratitude. Whether you choose to write a few sentences in a gratitude journal or simply take a moment to silently acknowledge all that you have, giving thanks can transform your life.” Here are her seven scientifically proven reasons why it is so important:
1. Gratitude opens the door to more relationships. So, whether you thank a stranger for holding the door or send a thank-you note to that colleague who helped you with a project, acknowledging other people’s contributions can lead to new opportunities.
2. Gratitude improves physical health.
3. Gratitude improves psychological health. Gratitude reduces a multitude of toxic emotions, from envy and resentment to frustration and regret.
4. Gratitude enhances empathy and reduces aggression. Grateful people are more likely to behave in a prosocial manner, even when others behave less kindly.
5. Grateful people sleep better. Spend just 15 minutes jotting down a few grateful sentiments before bed, and you may sleep better and longer.
6. Gratitude improves self-esteem. Rather than becoming resentful toward people who have more money or better jobs—a major factor in reduced self-esteem—grateful people are able to appreciate other people’s accomplishments.
7. Gratitude increases mental strength and reduces stress. It may also play a major role in overcoming trauma.
