Attendance Reminder!
PLEASE NOTE: If you receive a message from FCPS regarding your student’s absence for a specific period, and it is an error, please email the teacher directly to follow up and not the attendance office. The message is dictated by FCPS and does not accurately reflect the process at the high school level. The attendance office cannot override marks entered by teachers without verification. The teacher will communicate with the attendance office regarding any necessary changes.
Excused absences:
- If your student is unable to attend any of their synchronous class sessions, you must notify the Attendance Office at 703-718-2528 or by submitting the online form.
- Please include the following:
- your name and contact information
- student’s name
- student’s ID number
- reason for the absence (if your student is sick, please be specific about the symptoms)
- date(s) and period(s) of absence (indicate specific periods that will be missed or if it will be an all-day absence)

WP Dance Team Fundraiser – Tasty Food for the Family Tonight, Friday 11/20! Order online from the DC Slices food truck and pick it up at the Waynewood Recreation Center pool parking lot this afternoon between 4:00 and 7:30 pm. Class of 2021 Thanksgiving Project - 21 Gift Cards for 21 Families - The West Potomac Senior Class is looking for monetary donations to help with its 21 Family Thanksgiving Project. They have been collecting food donations and are still in need of monetary donations to provide 21 gift cards for 21 families to include in the food donation baskets in the spirit of the Class of 2021! Give “HIGH FIVES” to West Po Teachers, Counselors, Admin, and Others! Our West Potomac staff is doing an amazing job during this crazy time. Send a positive message or “High Five” to any staff for doing something you have appreciated this year. This could be for anything! Students have already received their own link in Google Classroom and the response has been awesome! Congratulations to All A Honor Roll Students! This morning 295 Wolverines were recognized for achieving the All A Honor Roll for the 1st Quarter – the highest number in recent memory! Way to go, Wolverines! Let’s keep it going. Included in the celebration was a gift card raffle. Thank you to our PTSA members and to Burke & Herbert Bank for helping to make the celebration possible.
PTSA Virtual Membership Meeting, December 7, 6:30-8pm: Special Topics - West Potomac Construction Plan Update; Substance Abuse Prevention. At our next meeting, we will hear a plan overview from the FCPS construction team managing West Potomac’s capacity enhancement/addition. Construction is expected to begin phasing by March 1, 2021. Also, we will welcome West Potomac’s Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist, Elizabeth Knudson, who will talk about strategies and programs to help our families, especially during these crazy times and winter break approaching.
AR Workshop Alexandria Holiday Kit Fundraiser, Thru November 29: DIY Holiday Ornament Kits! There are many designs to choose from.
