Finding the True Meaning of History: Dr. Brabrand's Visit to Franklin MS

Dr. Brabrand's visit to FMS

Students in Molly Bridenbaugh's class gathered in groups to review and discuss documents.

Here is Dr. Brabrand's Weekly Video Message that spotlighted our school in action!

Being in schools and observing our classrooms is the best way to see our Portrait of a Graduate in action. While I was at Franklin MS, I met Molly Bridenbaugh and her 7th grade history class. Students showed me how they were collaborators and communicators, by working together to review historical documents about Andrew Carnegie to determine what impact he had on American society.

I also learned that Ms. Bridenbaugh is an FCPS graduate and a second career teacher! We have been working so hard to recruit teachers #Back2Fairfax and we are so glad that Ms. Bridenbaugh found her true passion with our Fairfax family.

I also had a chance to visit with Mrs. Poole's Spanish class. I wanted to be sure they know how important it is to be a global citizen by committing to learn a second language.

Please watch this video to hear from Principal Sharon Eisenberg, and see her amazing students and staff at work!

Breakfast Reminder at FMS

Students should report to the cafeteria upon arrival with their belongings and then visit their lockers afterwards. All students are dismissed from the cafeteria by 7:25 and have the remaining 5 minutes to report to their initial class period.

Please encourage your student to attend breakfast in the morning so that they are ready for their school day. Thank you.

Positivity Project Student Survey Opt-in Form

Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for your student to bring home a Positivity Project (VIA) survey parent letter and opt-in form.  Positivity Project is Franklin’s school-wide positive support system that focuses on relationships as the cornerstone of health, happiness, and resilience. Positivity Project provides FCPS schools with the training, strategy, and resources to inspire students to build positive relationships by recognizing strengths in themselves and others . FCPS requires parental permission for children aged 12 and under to take the survey according to VIA’s privacy policy.  The VIA survey is for your student to identify their strongest character traits out of the 24 traits highlighted by the Positivity Project.  Students will be bringing home the parent letter and opt-in form back on December 13th.  If you choose to have your student participate in the survey, please fill out the opt-in form located on the backside of the parent/guardian letter and have your child turn the form back into their Learning Seminar teacher as soon as possible.  Extra copies of the opt-in form are available from the main office upon request or by printing the provided link form here.
