Pyramid Art Show

The artwork of Forest Edge students will be displayed at the Reston Community Center's Jo Ann Rose Gallery from March 5 through April 2 as part of Youth Art Month! The public is invited to attend the opening reception on March 11 from 2 PM - 4 PM in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery. Welcoming remarks will be made at 2:30 PM.  The exhibit will include original artworks from all the elementary schools in the South Lakes pyramid in celebration of Youth Art Month, which is an annual observance that emphasizes the value of arts education, and encourages support for quality school art programs.

Read Across America Week

Read Across America Day is on March 2, 2018 and we have many fun activities planned during the week in celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday to share our love of reading with our students. Spirit days include:

Monday, Feb. 26 Fox in Socks - Silly Sock Day

Tuesday, Feb. 27 Cat in the Hat - Favorite Hat Day

Wednesday, Feb. 28 Wacky Wednesday - Dress up wacky tacky

Thursday, March 1 Dress up as your favorite book character

Friday, March 2 The Sleep Book - wear your PJs

In addition to the spirit days, special guests will read their favorite Dr. Seuss stories to classes on March 2!

We look forward to celebrating our passion for reading with students and staff.

New Forest Edge Website Coming Soon...

Forest Edge ES School will transition to a new website in the spring. We are excited about the new look and features that will be available and we're sure that you will find it easier to navigate.

Some highlights of the new site include:

  • Search Function, similar to the way you would look for information on Google,
  • Top Menu, which links to main topics including About, Academics, Activities, Resources, and Contact
  • Full Menu, in the upper left-hand corner of the home page, which shows all the items under the main topics.

Additionally, the new site will offer several important advantages, including:

  • Displaying on mobile devices, an important feature because so many of you are coming to the site through cell phones,
  • Enabling the easy sharing of content between school and Fairfax County Public Schools (for example, emergency alerts about weather closures etc. from the main site will be promptly displayed on the school site),
  • Enabling the translation of site content into 75 different languages,
  • Making navigation of sites easier for parents as children progress through the FCPS schools because all sites will feature similar menus, and
  • Featuring accessibility to all users with disabilities (508 compliant).

We'll communicate more information as we get closer to the transition date.
