Social Determinants of Health: Improving Health Outcomes Through Our Cultures, Communities, and Connections Virtual Roundtable

Social Determinants of Health

In honor of National Minority Health Month 2024, the HHS Office of Minority Health (OMH) invites you to join a virtual roundtable on Tuesday April 30, 2024, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. ET to discuss the ways in which the conditions of the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age (known as social determinants of health, or SDOH) affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.

In addition to providing an overview of SDOH, the discussion will explore efforts and interventions leveraging health care payment approaches and health-related social needs data to address minority health disparities. Audience members will be encouraged to submit questions for a 10-minute Q&A session at the end of the convening.
Tuesday April 30, 1:00-2:00 p.m. ET.

Help the Stars Align During National Donate Life Month

Help the Stars Align During National Donate Life Month

April is National Donate Life Month, the perfect opportunity to join the millions of heroes who’ve signed up to give the incredible gift of life as organ, eye, and tissue donors. "Donors are Superstars" who bring hope and healing to those awaiting transplants.

In 2023, we witnessed a remarkable milestone with over 46,000 organ transplants performed. However, the need is still urgent. Nearly 104,000 individuals of every age, race, and ethnicity are on the national transplant waiting list, and many may not receive their miracle in time. Tragically, 17 lives are lost each day waiting for a transplant. Visit organdonor.gov to become a beacon of hope and learn how you can make a difference.
