MEP Launches Round 4 State Competition

NIST MEP opened a competition to award new cooperative funding agreements for MEP centers in 11 states. The competition continues a multiyear effort to update the program’s funding structure to better match manufacturing industry needs with resources in MEP's national network. The current competition will fund awards for centers in the states of Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina and Wyoming. MEP anticipates awarding a total of nearly $60 million over five years. MEP will host an Informational Webinar for interested parties on Thursday, July 21st @ 2 p.m. EDT and Tuesday, July 26th @ 2:30 p.m. EDT.   Please note the presentation for both webinars will be the same.  To register, please email your name, organization and the date of the webinar you are interested in participating in to mepffo@nist.gov. Full details on the competition and award process can be found on the MEP competition website.

DOE Launches Lab Call to Develop Manufacturing Training

The Energy Department is accepting applications from its National Labs to develop manufacturing training for cleantech entrepreneurs. The goal of the training is to prepare clean energy hardware entrepreneurs for manufacturing at scale by giving them the information and tools required to make manufacturing-related decisions, assess product design and manufacturing readiness, and productively engage with experts. The DOE National Laboratories are eligible to apply and are encouraged to include partners with curriculum, manufacturing, or entrepreneur training delivery expertise.  Interested parties (labs and non-labs) can learn more about this opportunity in the upcoming webinar on July 11 or contact CleanEnergyManufacturing@EE.doe.gov for more information. The application deadline is July 26, 2016 at 5:00 PM EST.

National Network Brand Initiative - Update

The national network brand project is underway. A few weeks ago, we held a kickoff meeting outlining the objectives and timelines for the brand initiative with an emphasis on system involvement.  A Brand Council has been established consisting of eight MEP Centers. We also sought outside expertise and will be working with Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) to support this tremendous endeavor. A project page has been created on MEP Connect to keep you informed with the latest status updates. Click here to view page.  This is an exciting opportunity to bolster the value of the network by working together to build a cohesive national network brand. We look forward to working with you. For questions, contact Cindy Orellana.
