HUD Strong Families Partners with ABCmouse!
We realize that due to COVID-19, several summer camps, child care facilities, and other recreational opportunities for children have been canceled for the summer. To continue to engage children and families with interactive, fun, learning exercises, HUD has partnered up with ABCmouse to offer a free on-line early childhood education program that will be available to any low-income household who wishes to use it. This is a state-of-the-art on-line curriculum where kids stay busy learning while having fun. All it takes is a PHA registration, and on-line accessibility for parents and children.
Interruptions in learning due to unanticipated events such as school closures can have significant negative impacts on children’s academic growth and development, as well as on their need for stability and consistency. Particularly when in-school learning isn’t possible, using research-based digital education programs at home can help children stay engaged, provide them valuable learning experiences, and allow them to maintain some continuity in their lives. Age of Learning is providing free home access to ABCmouse, Adventure Academy, and ReadingIQ for all affected families in the U.S. Read More

We understand that in this unprecedented age of COVID-19 it has been difficult to plan and coordinate your HUD Strong Families events. However many of you are moving forward creatively and in a socially-distanced way! Remember, as you continue to hold your events through August, safety is of utmost importance. Social distancing, hand washing and wearing face masks continue to be strongly encouraged, and please remember to have fun!
We want to hear from you. Tell us how you're conducting your events by sending a brief paragraph and your best photos to strongfamilies@hud.gov . If selected, we will showcase your events in this Brief and on our website. Don't forget to include HUD's photo release, signed by the parent or guardian--we cannot share if we don't have signed permission!
