 CNA e-Tool June Release
On June 23, 2026, HUD's Office of Multifamily Housing programs will implement the next Capital Needs Assessment (CNA) e-Tool release. This release includes several enhancements designed to improve usability, data clarity, and consistency for users.
Key Updates
- New Building Gross Square Footage (GSF) Field
A new building Gross Square Footage (GSF) field has been added to the Buildings screen where users can directly enter the building’s total gross square footage. Users should put this information from reliable sources such as construction documents. This eliminates the need to create a common area to make up the difference between rentable square footage and the building’s actual size.
- Updated Building Summary Section
The Building Summary section has been enhanced to provide more detailed information for each building. New displays include the total Residential Net Rentable Area, total Commercial Net Rentable Area, and the calculated difference between the new gross square footage of the building and sum of net rentable areas. Accessibility compliance indicators have also been added, allowing users to obtain an overview without navigating to other screens, such as the Units Inspected tab.
Tooltips have been added to Building, Unit Type, and Components screens to provide clearer guidance and reduce user confusion.
- Reserve for Replacement Indicator Fix
The Reserve for Replacement Ending Balance Analysis Compliance Indicator has been corrected. Years 1 and 2 will now show “Pass” when the ending balance is greater than zero.
- Pin/Unpin and Hide/Unhide Issue Resolved
Errors experienced when using the Pin/Unpin and Hide/Unhide actions has been fixed.
These changes will streamline data entry, improve data accuracy, and provide more detailed building-level reporting.
