HHS Pulse Survey Results for BPHC Offices available on the BIR
During Tuesday’s BPHC All-Hands, DWM shared an overview of BPHC results from the HHS Pulse Survey administered last April. This survey supplements the annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) by inquiring about topics including best places to work strategies, work-related stress and well-being, and organizational decision-making.
Interested in exploring the data further? Check out the HHS Pulse Survey Reports page on BPHC’s Information and Resources (BIR) SharePoint site. You can download summary data tables and PowerPoint slides for all BPHC offices.
HHS plans to administer another pulse survey this fall. To get a preview, check out the HHS Pulse Survey Oct 2023 document.

CFC cause of the week: Food & nutrition
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) cause of the week is food and nutrition. So much of our overall health is based on food and nutrition. Across the nation and around the world, lack of access to healthy food results in malnutrition, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and many other issues. Recent rising grocery costs have exacerbated these issues. CFC charities work to address food deserts, bridge the gaps in supply chains, ensure clean drinking water, provide nutritional counseling, teach effective farming techniques, and enhance overall food security.

Take 5 to Thrive: Gain financial peace of mind
With all the talk of the fiscal year ending, do you have the support you need to make your financial decisions? As a government employee, you, your household members, and your dependents can each access three 30-minute sessions telephone consultations per topic, per year with a financial expert through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Don’t wait since you get this benefit anew every calendar year!
Financial advice covers savings and investment strategies, buying a house, debt consolidation, college budgeting, and other topics.
One BPHC employee recently took advantage of this EAP offering. “The financial professional I was connected with was able to help me work out the pros and cons of investing in different ways,” the employee said. “My family is trying to decide between stock market investments or paying more into the principal of our house. While the advisor could not look into a crystal ball and tell us which was the right choice, he gave us various scenarios to consider.” After reviewing their current financial portfolio, the financial professional shared options regarding Roth versus traditional retirement accounts that the employee hadn’t considered.
EAP also provides legal services and identity theft help via one 60-minute session per year in person or by phone. These free services also extend to members of your house and dependents.
See a summary of legal, financial, and identity theft help available through EAP and call 800-222-0364 (TTY: 888-262-7848) to set up an appointment.
