New! Be Sure to Code Your Timesheet Properly for the Labor Day Holiday

Monday, September 5th is a legal public holiday for pay and leave purposes for all federal employees.

Full-time and part-time employees scheduled to work on Monday, September 5, 2022, are excused from duty and are entitled to holiday pay. Employees on a standard or flexible schedule are provided with 8 hours of holiday pay. Employees on a compressed schedule are provided holiday pay for the number of hours they would have been scheduled to work on that day (i.e., 8, 9, 10, or 12 hours).

Employees who are not scheduled to work on Monday, September 5, 2022, will receive an in-lieu-of holiday. For most employees, this in-lieu-of holiday will be Friday, September 2, 2022.

To record holiday time off, use the Time Reporting Code "002-Holiday Observed.” Do not place any information into the “Additional TRC,” “Labor Code” or “Task Code” fields.

Be sure your timesheet accurately reflects your holiday time off. Please direct questions in timesheet reporting to your HR point of contact.

Update! Feds Feed Families Extended Through September

You still have time to submit your donations to the Feds Feed Families food drive. This year's campaign is all virtual and GSA employees have already stepped up to the challenge of helping those in need by raising thousands of pounds of food since June. When you donate, know that you’re making a difference. The campaign ends September 30.

Reminder! Save Your Emails and Attachments Before October 1, 2022

Federal regulations require that GSA email and attachments older than 7 years be deleted at the start of each fiscal year—unless you take action to preserve them.

On October 1, 2022, any unsaved email older than October 1, 2015, will be gone for good.

Email-to-PDF helps you save your emails and attachments. Get ahead of the game by:

  • Choosing which email you want to keep
  • Using the Email-to-PDF tool to convert them to PDF
  • Storing them on Google Drive

OCFO News & Activities

The National Alert and Accountability System (NAAS)

GSA's NAAS is our communications center during any emergency and COOP drill. Passing pertinent information during a national security emergency is paramount and at the heart of preparedness.

A national security emergency is any natural disaster, military attack, technological crisis, or other emergencies that seriously degrades or threatens the United States national security. All national security emergency preparedness activities are consistent with the Constitution and laws of the United States and preserve our constitutional Government.

OCFO conducts quarterly tests of the NAAS, ensuring we can communicate all pertinent information during an emergency. These messages contain valuable information during an emergency, and your response contributes to our office's accountability percentage. If you don't reply, OCFO's percentage decreases.

You'll receive an email message in this venue with a link you can click to respond. If you miss the email message on your computer, you'll get that same email, SMS text, or phone call on your cell phone. Please remember that OCFO's averages are negatively affected if you don't respond.

Many employees wear many hats. There is a chance that you may be on two or more NAAS lists because of your specific expertise. Please ensure to respond to all messages received during our drills, exercises, and tests. With these tests, you'll be familiar with receiving the messages, know how to respond, and be accounted for (which is the most critical piece of information during an emergency).

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact Les Painter.
