Water Data for the Nation had over 30 million unique visits by user last year (Oct 2022-Sept 2023). We’ve written about what we know about our users in our blog series Are you a USGS Water Data User? We’re always learning more, and we just published a new post to that series, “Advanced Check Status,” to discuss what we know about this user group who desire “at-a-glance” information that is more information-dense.

 This summer, we began releasing a series of blog posts on techniques for improving the reusability of your code with a focus on water data. The first post in the series covers how to write your own functions in R, while the second provides tips to improve custom functions. The latest provides guidance for iteration using loops and the map() library.
