As a result of disaster declaration DR-4466 which was 2019's Tropical Storm Imelda, and DR-4454 which was 2019's Severe Storms and Flooding, eligible individuals in Texas were issued a Group Flood Insurance Policy (GFIP) in order to meet the legal requirement to obtain and maintain a flood insurance policy after receiving federal disaster assistance for a flood event. While the three-year GFIP flood insurance certificate was able to help them in this situation, their coverage just expired or is soon to expire. To ensure a continuation of coverage, GFIP policyholders will need to reach out to an insurance agent to purchase an individual Flood Insurance Policy.
