Dear Volunteer,
Christmas is nearly upon us and we are saddened that we have been unable to get together and offer our thanks to you in the normal way.
We also hope you have caught up with all our news in the latest customer newsletter.
Please be aware that libraries will close by 4.00pm on Christmas Eve and will re-open between Christmas and New Year. For full details, see Library bank holiday closing dates.
You may have noticed that you can pick up a stack of charity Christmas cards, or a stocking filler such as a 3D bookmark, activity book or giant pencil! Or you can shop from home and grab a bargain from the Online Booksale or the Local Publications catalogue. Any of these items can be ordered for collection at your local library.

I hope all is well with you and you are able to stay safe and well.
It has been great to see some of you as I've been out and about in libraries.
I regularly hear what a difference you make in your local libraries and for those of you helping with our remote services. I and all of us at West Sussex Libraries very much appreciate that so many of you have returned to your volunteering roles. A sentiment that I know is supported by our customers.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the time and support you have shown this year and to wish you a very Happy Christmas and a safe and healthy New Year!

It’s important that we continue to take precautions and do all we can to reduce the spread of coronavirus and keep each other safe.
We are continuing to strongly advise all library staff, volunteers and customers to:
- not come into the library if you have any symptoms of COVID-19 or you have been advised to self-isolate
- wear a face covering in library buildings (unless exempt)
- respect social distancing and give others ample space
- make use of the hand sanitiser that is available upon entry to the library and throughout your visit
- provide your contact details for Test and Trace or ‘check in’ using the NHS COVID-19 App
- test regularly – order or pick up test kits from locations across the county, including some West Sussex libraries! Supervised tests are also available at local pharmacies. Find out more about COVID-19 testing on the West Sussex County Council website.
