Above: the level crossing at Star Lane in Wokingham, which will temporarily close for this phase of works
Route into town to close from next week
From next Monday (13 April), Easthampstead Road will be shutting as part of the ongoing construction of the South Wokingham Distributor Road.
The road will close between Star Lane level crossing and just north of Heathlands Road (see diagram) with a diversion for vehicles and pedestrians.
Businesses including Holme Grange Craft Village will be open as usual and accessible from the south, as will any properties south of the level crossing.
The road will stay closed until early next year, when main work on the distributor road finishes, and the level crossing will reopen at this point.
However, the final layout includes a new cul-de-sac on Easthampstead Road with a new link road for through traffic.
The long-term closure of Easthampstead Road will follow the reopening of the junction with Heathlands Road, which is expected by Saturday 11 April.
This junction has been closed for four weeks for realignment works.
Other major roadworks coming up soon
From Monday 20 April to Monday 18 May, Scottish and Southern Energy Networks (SSEN) are closing various roads between Barkham and Wokingham:
From Monday 20 April to mid/late June, Southern Gas Networks (SGN) are closing and diverting part of Lower Wokingham Road near Crowthorne.
The SSEN closure is for investigative works on underground power connections, while the SGN works are for essential upgrades to an aging gas main.
You've got until Sunday (12 April) to tell us how active you are, and how we could make it easier to move more. Your answers will help us come up with ways to help everyone live more healthily, including active journeys.

This is an increase on last year's 89 per cent and 86 per cent before that, and well above this year's national average of 85 per cent.
Satisfaction with the driver scored 92 per cent, punctuality rose to 89 per cent and satisfaction with wait times rose to 86 per cent.
There was praise for its audio announcements, which particularly help those with visual impairments, and on-board screens showing the next stop.
Bus services continue to recover after the impact of the 2020 pandemic. We urge everyone to use them as it's healthier and better for the environment than driving.
We'll be holding another electric vehicle and e-bike event at Elms Field in Wokingham on Saturday 4 July. We'll announce more nearer the time, but there'll be a chance to meet dealers and suppliers.
