Summer road closure for roundabout works
The closure of Molly Millars Lane at the junction with Finchampstead Road in Wokingham will start on Monday (21 July).
This is the first in a series of closures at this junction, so we can upgrade the existing mini roundabout to a bigger one to increase traffic capacity.
Molly Millars Lane will be closed until early September, with diversions for traffic. Residents and businesses will have access at all times, as will pedestrians.
Traffic will continue to flow in both directions on Finchampstead Road, but there may be short periods when temporary traffic lights are needed.
Once Molly Millars Lane reopens, there will be further closures on various sections of Finchampstead Road until March 2026.
These works are part of the South Wokingham Distributor Road project, which we're completing in partnership with Balfour Beatty.

Sindlesham closures will allow gas pipe upgrades
There'll be closures and diversions on Bearwood Road and Mole Road in Sindlesham this summer and autumn while SGN upgrades the gas network.
This will last until about mid-November while contractors replace old metal pipes with new, longer-lasting plastic ones.
Work is starting in Mayfields, St Catherine's Close and St Mary's Road, and will then move into the main closures as follows:
-
Wednesday 23 July - Bearwood Road closed (initially King Street Lane to New Road, then New Road to Sadlers End) with diversions
-
Monday 1 September - Mole Road closed between Harrow Way and Parkcorner Lane with diversion
This will be disruptive, but utility upgrades like this are necessary to ensure everyone has a reliable supply.
If you have any queries, please email SGN or call them on 0800 912 1700.
We coordinate all street works applications we receive to ensure they cause as little inconvenience as possible.
Nobody likes getting a parking fine - but if you think we've issued one incorrectly, please go through our formal appeals process rather than contacting our customer services team as they can only direct you to the appeal form. We consider all appeals on their individual circumstances.
New camera protects villagers on two fronts
Wargrave is the first village to be equipped with an innovative multi-purpose traffic camera by Thames Valley Police (TVP) in partnership with us.
The device, now being installed at the junction of High Street and School Lane, can catch drivers crossing a red light or speeding through a green light.
Police chose the location following a number of collisions as well as us passing on local concerns about drivers ignoring red lights.
We'll keep working with the police to ensure it's making a difference, as part of our joint efforts to make it as safe as possible to get around.
This is one of three sites chosen by TVP for the first phase of this project, working with councils across the area it serves.
We're really pleased to be supporting the community's concerns - and fully support the police's reminder that jumping a red light can have lethal conseequences.
If you live in Woodley or travel frequently between Woodley and Reading, and you're aged 16 or over, there's still time to take our travel habits survey before works starts on a new active travel route this autumn. You could win one of five £20 vouchers if you respond by Sunday 3 August.
Youngsters can learn skills and get bike checks
Our partners at Avanti Cycling are offering a range of cycle training courses for children and teenagers this summer.
The sessions at Woodford Park in Woodley are part of the national Bikeability scheme and cover everything from basic handling to more complex road layouts.
Prices range from £10 to £12 and sessions run on several dates from 29 July to 28 August, with some classes already sold out.
And if you aren't already busy this Saturday (19 July), Dr Bike will be offering free checks at Twyford skate park from 5pm to 7pm. Advance booking is essential.
Check out the My Journey Wokingham events page for more dates, including further Dr Bike sessions and introductory cycling classes for young children.
Save the date! We're hosting a Bike Bonanza at Coronation Hall in Woodley on Thursday, 21 August with fun activities and the chance to get advice from our active travel team. We'll take a closer look in an upcoming newsletter.
Get fit and get around at the same time
We're pleased to be offering more weekly running sessions to help people build their fitness and travel around the borough while squeezing in some exercise.
Our previous My Way to 5K scheme, supported by our My Journey Wokingham team and run by Places Leisure, was so successful that we couldn't take everyone who wanted to give it a go.
We don't want anyone to feel left out, so we're looking to run them again and want you to let us know what the most convenient times and days are.
They'll offer a friendly and gentle way to build up to running 5km, with adult sessions at Arborfield Green, Woodley (Bulmershe) and Ryeish Green, plus a family session (age 11 and over) at Arborfield Green.
If you respond to the survey, you can sign up for alerts once the final dates and times are confirmed.
Will you be walking or cycling through Woodley town centre this summer? Now you can stop and top up at a water fountain installed by Woodley Town Council with support from local Rotary Clubs!
