Appointment of a Deputy Chief Inspector
Vicky Poole started the role on November 1.
Vicky was previously Head of Local Authority Inspection at the inspectorate and succeeds former Assistant Chief Inspector David Francis.
The Deputy Chief Inspector role oversees the everyday delivery of all CIW’s functions in accordance with legislation. Find out more about our new Deputy Chief Inspector.

Publication of child minder reports
From last month, we started to publish inspection reports for child minders on our care directory. We will not be publishing addresses.
If you are looking for a child minder and want to read their inspection report, you can access and download these from the care directory on our website.

How we inspect services registered under the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016
We’re developing and piloting our new inspection framework through a small pilot this autumn, for services registered under the new Act.

2018 digital Christmas card competition launched!
For our 2018 digital Christmas card competition, we've invited all care providers to send us their Christmas-themed drawings, artworks or anything creative that has been created by the children or adults who use their service. Two winning artworks will feature on our official 2018 digital Christmas card, which will be sent to all our newsletter subscribers, and displayed on our website and social media. Providers have been contacted directly via email to take part.
