Grab your swords and sun-hats it’s time to step back in time for an epic summer of adventure, courtesy of Cadw’s Castles Alive! campaign.

From heart-stopping weaponry demonstrations to living history re-enactments and fascinating falconry experiences, look no further than your nearest Cadw site for an unforgettable day out with the family this summer.

Events


Tintern Event

1. Wars of the Roses at Tintern Abbey

Saturday 7 — Sunday 8 July, 10am–4pm.    

Discover life during the Wars of the Roses as a group of mercenary archers and their families set up camp at the Tintern Abbey.

 

 

Raglan Event

2. Tudor Weekend at Raglan Castle

Saturday 28 — Sunday 29 July, 11am–4pm.

Visitors to Raglan Castle are invited to experience two days of Tudor tradition and turmoil, as characters from the era return to the castle grounds.


 

Harlech Event

3. Ardudwy Knight School at Harlech Castle

Every Tuesday between 31 July — 22 August,

11am–4pm.

Harlech Castle is in search of a new storm of medieval knights to guard the mighty fortress walls. Why not head to the castle for a day of battle, combat and defence training?

Criccieth Event

4. Medieval Falconry at Criccieth Castle

Sunday 12 August, 10.30am–4pm.


Prepare to be blown away as Criccieth Castle welcomes visitors to enjoy an exhilarating day of fascinating falconry displays above Cardigan Bay.


 

Beaumaris Event

5. The Mighty Medieval Festival at Beaumaris Castle

Wednesday 22 — Monday 27 August, 10am–4pm.

Our six-day mighty, medieval festival at Beaumaris Castle ticks all the boxes for a fun-filled family day out this season. Gear up for an abundance of, medieval games, astonishing battle re-enactments, falconry experiences as well as a chance to join a colourful dragon parade around the mighty castle.
