Taxation (Wales) Bill

Taxation (Wales) Bill introduced to the Senedd

This month, the Taxation (Wales) Bill was introduced to the Senedd. This marks the first time the WRA has led the design of tax legislation for Wales. The Bill continues Wales' tax devolution journey that began 8 years ago with Land Transaction Tax and Landfill Disposals Tax.

out and about

We’ve been out and about

Our Stakeholder and Engagement team, Manon and Claire, have spent October travelling across Wales. They’ve been meeting accommodation providers, tourism businesses and legal professionals to talk about visitor accommodation registration, Visitor Levy and Land Transaction Tax. They attended:

  • Four Visit Wales tourism forums
  • Professional Association of Self Caterers (PASC) events in North and West Wales
  • Legal News Wales Conference in Cardiff

Claire, our Engagement and Stakeholder Lead, attended the Legal News Wales conference with colleagues Manon, Neil, Peter and Emma. Reflecting on the event, she said: “Talking to solicitors and conveyancers was a great way to show Land Transaction Tax as Welsh law in action. It gave us the chance to listen to practitioners’ questions, signpost our guidance and build relationships with an important professional audience.”

On the tourism forums and PASC meetings, she added: “A heartfelt diolch to Visit Wales and PASC for bringing us together with accommodation providers. We’ve reached a significant milestone, and now we need to work together to turn awareness into action. All visitor accommodation providers must register with us by 31 March 2027. Registration is free, and there’s plenty of support to help you register with confidence.”

We’re grateful to all the organisations who have invited us to their events, and we look forward to continuing these conversations as we head into 2027.

And then, we went live
