The Welsh Government is considering some changes to the law, to improve social care and continuing NHS healthcare.

Proposals include legislation to eliminate profit from the care of children looked after. And introduce direct payments for adults who are eligible for continuing NHS healthcare.

  • Views are also sought on:
    extending mandatory reporting of children and adults at risk
  • changes to regulation of social care services and the workforce
  • inclusion of childcare and play workers within the definition of social care worker.

This consultation closes at midnight on 7 November 2022.

Launch of consultation on the duty of quality

Our aim will be to commence the strengthened Duty of Quality on Welsh Ministers (with regards to their health-related functions) and NHS bodies (Local Health Boards, NHS Trusts and Special Health Authorities) in Wales.
