New way to become a teacher

The Open University ITE partnership is developing two new routes into teaching, a Part Time PGCE and a Salaried PGCE, both leading to a PGCE and QTS. Secondary Science Salaried PGCE places are available in April 2020. 

PERSONALISED ASSESSMENTS

Learner feedback reports - Numeracy (procedural) and Reading

Did you know that learner feedback reports for Numeracy (procedural) and Reading are available the day after learners have completed their assessments?  These should be considered whilst they are current.  Information on how to access these reports can be found in the User Guide via the assessment website. 

Learner progress reports – Numeracy (procedural)

Did you know that learner progress reports for Numeracy (procedural) are available the day after learners have completed their assessment?  Information on how to access the reports can be found in the User Guide via the assessment website.

Group reports

Did you know that there is a suite of reports available to help plan and support learner progression?  These include group profiles (scatter plot), group skills profile (LNF areas), learner paths and a group progress report.  These can be tailored for different groups of learners.  Find out more in the User Guide via the assessment website.

Written Statement: Children Act 2004 Education Database (Wales) Regulations 2020 and the Education (Information about Children in Independent Schools) (Wales) Regulations 2020

This statement is to update Members on the proposed consultation on the draft database regulations, the timescales for publishing the final statutory guidance for local authorities on home education and the coming into force date for the database regulations.   

Decommissioning Careerswales.com

Careerswales.com will be decommissioned the w/c 27 January 2020, switching over to the new site Careerswales.gov.wales. There will also be some changes to content and resources that will affect schools. Visit our website to familiarise yourself with these. 

Languages connect us (LlC AoLE)

Learning about and valuing languages will be an integral part of the Languages, Literacy and Communication Area of Learning and Experience in the new curriculum. Why not use this International Year of Indigenous Languages video to kick start your discussions.

MoD Education Support Fund (ESF)

This year the MOD made £2m available to support service children in education in the UK for which seven schools were successful in Wales with partial or full funding totalling £134,584.00. The MOD support fund is separate and in addition to the Welsh Government Supporting Service Children in Wales Fund.
