Science Park

Anglesey Science Park ground breaker

Economy Secretary, Ken Skates was on Anglesey to break the ground at Wales’ first dedicated Science Park.

 

The Menai Science Park (M-SParc) is a £20m plus development within the boundaries of the Anglesey Enterprise Zone that is set to open its door is 2018.

Magstim

Magstim expansion unveiled

First Minister Carwyn Jones officially unveiled the expanded headquarters of Carmarthenshire-based Magstim in November.

 

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities were upgraded as part of a three year project supported by the Welsh Government, which created more than 27 jobs, safeguarded 7, with a further 21 jobs to be created by August 2017.

New Higher Apprenticeship in Life Science

 

The Minister for Skills and Science, Julie James visited Bridgend College - the first training provider to deliver the new Higher Apprenticeship in Life Science and Related Science Industries in Wales.

 

The Higher Apprenticeship will be aimed at those working within the Life Science sector.

Oxford PharmaGenesis Cardiff Office open

 

Oxford PharmaGenesis celebrated the official opening of its Cardiff office.

 

Welsh Government provided £220 000 to support the opening of PharmaGenesis’ new office. It will provide 20 exciting new jobs for highly skilled scientists in Wales, who will work with the local life sciences business community to bring new medicines and healthcare technologies to patients in areas of unmet need.

Medica Success

 

The Life Sciences team led the largest ever Welsh Government delegation to Medica, the world’s leading trade fair for Medical Technology, Electromedicine, Laboratory Equipment, Diagnostics and Drugs.

Welsh business Rocialle, which employs 350 people in their Mountain Ash site, launched their new SepsisBox at the event, held in Düsseldorf, Germany in November.

Large presence at Arab Health

 

The Welsh Government will take 15 companies and more than 30 delegates to Arab Health, the largest healthcare exhibition & medical congress in the Middle East and second largest in the world.

The Middle East healthcare business is expected to be worth $60 billion by 2025 as the need for investment in services and facilities increases, and Arab Health provides a platform for companies to develop business across the region

BioWales is coming...

 

Wales’ flagship Life Sciences event BioWales is coming back to Cardiff – and already has a number of high profile speakers confirmed.

Following this year’s success, the two-day Health and Wealth themed event will once again be held at the Wales Millennium Centre on the 7-8 March 2017 and will have a specific focus on the latest developments in Cell Therapy, Regenerative Medicine and Medical Technologies – where Wales has particular strengths.
