Striving for a greener future

climate video cover

The 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 29) in Azerbaijan kicked off this week, so no better time to shine a spotlight on all we are doing to help tackle climate change and support biodiversity.

We all have a duty to contribute to the huge challenge of global climate change and loss of biodiversity, which is why we are taking real action, delivering climate focused projects which will make a huge difference.

Find out more about our work to tackle environmental issues head on.

We will remember them

Matt Tom Andy Wreath

Our staff joined the rest of the nation in paying tribute to those who have lost their lives fighting in war and conflict on Remembrance Day.

Staff from our Waste team - who are all former military personnel - laid a wreath at Totnes War Memorial on behalf of the Council, to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives fighting in war and conflict.

Our entire staff also paid their own tribute with a two-minute silence at 11 a.m.

Learn Devon

LEARN DEVON

We're working in partnership with Learn Devon to better understand how local residents can engage with adult education.

Learn Devon is Devon County Council's adult education provider and delivers courses and qualifications across Devon, both online and in-person. To help us ensure that relevant courses and opportunities are available across the South Hams, please complete the short online survey here

Paper surveys

For those who do not have access to the internet, or who would prefer to complete a paper version of the survey, paper copies are available at Libraries across the South Hams - Buckfastleigh Library, Dartmouth Library, Ivybridge Library, Kingsbridge Library, Salcombe Library and Totnes Library.

The surveys will be available until Monday 16 December.

Completed copies of the survey can either be taken to the libraries (listed above) who are kindly taking part in this community survey partnership project, and given to a member of their staff to return to Learn Devon.

They can also be posted to Learn Devon, The Kennaway Centre, 10-12 Victoria Road, Exmouth EX8 1DL - For Attention of (FAO) Tim Hamilton.

If you wish to print copies and collect completed surveys on behalf of Learn Devon, a copy of the paper survey can also be found here.

Paper copies can also be returned directly to Learn Devon by scanning and emailing to tim.hamilton@devon.gov.uk
