2024 annual survey reflections
 Improving your training experience
Last week, we shared the summary of findings from our 2024 colleague-in-training satisfaction survey. A big thank you again to everyone who took the time to take part, your feedback is essential in helping us shape a better training experience.
As a reminder, the summary outlines key themes from the survey along with the actions we’re taking to address your feedback and continue improving the support we provide.
If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, you can access the full summary here.
NHS birthday
The NHS turned 77 last week!
We're proud to play a part in supporting the future of the NHS by employing you and thousands of other colleagues-in-training as you progress through your training programme. We appreciate the role you play as healthcare professionals - dedicated, resilient, and deeply committed to the values of the NHS. Thank you for your continued contributions.

 Honorary contracts
Important information
Recently, we’ve heard from some of you who have been asked by host organisations to complete additional paperwork, such as honorary contracts or forms for research or shadowing activities. If these activities are part of your NHS England (NHSE) training programme, there should be no need for extra checks or contracts - our model already covers this.
If you're ever asked to complete additional forms or are unsure about what’s required, please get in touch with our Helpdesk Team first. We’ll work with the relevant host organisation to clarify and support you.

Considerations as we approach summer rotations
As we approach the August rotation period, please remember to check your payslip for any ongoing deductions related to car parking or mess fees at your current placement.
If you're moving to a new trust and a deduction is no longer applicable, it will continue to be taken from your salary unless you inform the Medical Staffing Team at your current trust to cancel it. They will then notify our Payroll Team on your behalf.
To stop a deduction:
- Contact the Medical Staffing Team (MST) at the trust you're rotating out of
- Ask them to confirm the cancellation with our Payroll Team
If you would like to set up a new deduction (e.g., for car parking at your new placement), please:
- Speak to the MST at your new trust
- They will arrange for the set up and inform our Payroll Team
|
*Please don't contact our Payroll Team direct as the cancellation instruction or set up must come direct from the trust that you will be on placement with.
ESR certificates for training completion
Electronic Staff Record (ESR) is unable to generate or provide certificates for completed training modules. We have received multiple requests regarding this, and we want to clarify the available alternatives.
If you need to provide proof of training completion, please consider the following options:
-
Take a screenshot of your completed training confirmation on ESR
-
Export an excel document from your ESR training list, which includes essential details such as the course name, completion dates, and status
|
Important information for upcoming leavers
Please consider the below
For those nearing the end of your specialty training, please know that our team is committed to supporting you through a smooth and positive transition to the next phase of your career.
If your employment with us is coming to an end, please remember to:
-
Download and save your payslips and P60 before your leaving date
-
Contact your host organisation to confirm any outstanding payments or deductions to ensure your final salary is accurate
Thank you for all your hard work and commitment. Everyone at Lead Employer wishes you every success in your future endeavours.

 Alcohol Awareness Week
(7th–13th July)
|
Alcohol Awareness Week is organised by Alcohol Change UK and aims to raise awareness about the impact of alcohol on individuals and society. The week encourages discussions about how alcohol can affect productivity, mental health and overall wellbeing in professional settings.
In your profession, you are often managing high-pressure environments, long shifts, and irregular hours. For some, alcohol can become a way to unwind, but it’s important to stay informed and self-aware.
