Announcement and notices

NJC Support Staff Pay Update

Shropshire Council logo header

You will hopefully have seen that over the summer the NJC Pay Award was confirmed. This means all pay points will be increased by 3.2%, backdated to  1 April 2025. For Shropshire maintained schools the increase and arrears will be applied in October's payroll. Within the pay award it was also confirmed that SCP2 will be deleted from 1 April 2026. We will be reviewing how this will be implemented within Shropshire Council and Schools over the autumn and will confirm in early 2026.

As a reminder, Teachers pay was agreed in the summer term and the increase will be applied for Shropshire maintained schools in September payroll. Pay policies and ranges were confirmed and made available in July via HR teams page and SLG.

If you have any questions related to either pay award, please contact HR.

If you weren’t able to get to our Safeguarding Leads Network this term; please do take a look at the Schools Safeguarding Networks 2025-2026 Padlet. It includes important updates relating to local processes and arrangements including:

  • Hate Crime Incident Reporting
  • Statutory Safeguarding Audits (section 11/157/175) 2025-2026
  • Quality Assurance of Alternative Provision
  • Local development/implementation of the Families First Partnership Programme

If you have any queries relating to the above or requests as to future Safeguarding Leads Networks themes/topics/guest speakers please do make contact with the Education Quality and Safeguarding Team.

We will communicate next term’s Network date later on in the term. We hope to see as many of you as possible in the Spring.

Kind regards,
