Two new residential neighbourhoods in Sheffield city centre have been allocated major, multi-million pound funding which will provide 1,300 new homes.
As well as new homes, the £67m funding for the new developments at Furnace Hill and Neepsend will unlock commercial space and lead to a major redevelopment of the areas.
Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, Michael Gove, announced the funding at the Convention of the North event in Leeds on Friday 1 March.

More than 1,000 council homes will be built or acquired in the next five years to increase the number of properties available in Sheffield.
As we continue to face an unprecedented demand for affordable and social housing in the city, this will help to meet some of that demand.
To meet the challenge, £255m has been set aside for acquisitions and new builds in 2024/25. This adds to £28m already allocated for 2023/24, meaning £283m in total being spent.

Since the launch, data has shown that the number of non-compliant vehicles has reduced by nearly two-thirds, showing that people are making the switch to cleaner vehicles.
A year on from the Clean Air Zone going live, Greg Fell, Director of Public Health, spoke about the importance of better air quality and the small changes we can all make to clean up Sheffield’s air.
"One great change we can all make to improve our own health and the health of others around us is to take more active travel journeys.
"Switching even a single journey or part of a journey every week is a great start and will help improve cardiovascular health and overall fitness."
