How we can support the people of Ukraine

People in Sheffield will want to know what our city is doing to support the people of Ukraine, as well as how they can help directly. There are a number of organisations supporting the international effort for Ukraine that you can donate to, including the British Red Cross, UNICEF and Save the Children

Additionally, the City of Sanctuary website offers advice and information about how to help, as well as information about The Ukraine Advice Project which is providing free immigration advice for Ukrainian Nationals.

A new plan for the future of Sheffield city centre will see a host of new bars, restaurants, shops, and thousands of new homes springing up from the Moor to Castlegate over the coming years, following consultation with residents and businesses.

More than 500 new secondary school places set to be created

Sheffield City Council will commit £7.7million to begin the expansion of Silverdale and King Ecbert schools by September 2023, creating more than 500 new secondary school places in Sheffield’s most in demand catchment area.

Winter top up grant to help vulnerable private renters

We have been allocated a Winter Top Up to our homeless prevention funding to help vulnerable private renters. If you are struggling with your rent due to a change in circumstances we can help. 

If you are a landlord whose tenants are struggling over the Winter to pay their rent the council may be able to offer some financial support by paying off arrears or topping up rent payments. Contact our Private Rented Solutions team on privaterentedsolutions@sheffield.gov.uk or telephone 0114 205 3122 for an application form.

This scheme runs to 31st March 2022. We will need evidence of your circumstances and will provide a form to collect the information from you.
