Get Boosted

It’s been one year since Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) started the COVID vaccination programme in Rotherham and thanks to the fantastic efforts and dedication of staff, volunteers and residents, 480,000 vaccinations have been delivered including 1st, 2nd and booster jabs.

On Sunday 12 December 2021, the Government announced that it has stepped up its Booster programme as Omicron cases continue to increase across the UK.

Rotherham CCG has been working extremely hard over the last few days to significantly increase the availability of booster vaccines for Rotherham residents.

Vaccinations and boosters will be available at the below sites. We recommend you book an appointment before you attend. Walk-in sessions may be available, but these are subject to change at short notice.

Rotherham CCG will be providing regular daily updates on the vaccination sites and vaccine availability for residents. Please look out for these updates on their Facebook page and COVID vaccine webpage.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Festive Face Covering Photos

The Council has been working with partners across the borough to hand out our festive face coverings to residents.

We will be continuing to distribute them over the next few days so there is still time to grab yours from Rotherham Market and Riverside House!

A big thank you to everyone who has been involved and to our fantastic partners who have been handing them out for us, including South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive, The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, and Rotherham Civic Theatre.

There's still time to get creative and make a personalised Christmas face covering of your own. Rotherham Creative have produced this great instructional video if you're wanting to design your own!

And send us your face covering photos by using #FestiveFaceCoverings on social media.

Local COVID-19 update

Over the past week, there have been further suspected cases of Omicron in the borough. Cases from the Delta variant are coming down in Rotherham, but as the Omicron variant gets into our communities, the case rate will rise, and could rise sharply.

We have seen in the south of England how quickly Omicron is spreading with a doubling rate of 3 days. We are expecting this trend to begin to happen in the north of England over the next few days so it is important that everyone acts now and follows the guidance around face coverings, daily testing for contacts of COVID-19 cases, and socialising responsibly.

Get your COVID Pass

Vaccine Passport

From Wednesday 15 December, you will need a COVID Pass to enter certain venues and events in England. The COVID Pass will prove you:

  • are vaccinated with 2 doses of an approved vaccine (or one of the single-dose Janssen vaccine) – we will keep this under review as boosters are rolled out
  • have taken a PCR or rapid lateral flow test within the last 48 hours, or
  • are exempt from vaccination or vaccination and testing on the basis of a medical exemption or clinical trial participation

You should take tests as late as possible before attending the event, ideally within 12 hours. This will strengthen the protection testing provides.

New daily tests for people who are contacts of positive COVID-19 cases

Daily Testing

From Tuesday 14 December 2021, people who are contacts of a positive case will need to take daily lateral flow tests for at least 10 days after being notified that they are a contact.

This applies to:

  • fully vaccinated adults – people who have had 2 COVID-19 vaccinations
  • all children aged 5 to 18 years and 6 months, regardless of their vaccination status
  • people who can prove they are unable to be vaccinated for clinical reasons
  • people taking part, or have taken part, in an approved clinical trial for a COVID-19 vaccine

Under 5s are exempt from self-isolation and do not need to take part in daily rapid lateral flow testing.
