Family favourite Aladdin is on at Rotherham Civic Theatre until 9th Jan
Pantomime is back in spectacular style at Rotherham Civic Theatre - oh yes it is!
Family favourite Aladdin began a near six week run at the newly refurbished theatre this week with a sell-out opening night on 2nd December.
It marks a welcome return for the panto, which didn't take place last year due to Covid restrictions. But the Theatre team worked tirelessly to get the venue ready for the return of audiences this Autumn and over £350,000 was invested in new facilities, including a new coffee shop, a new relocated box office, refurbished reception area, new-look bar and the creation of smaller performance spaces.
Tickets are selling fast for all performances of Aladdin, which stars Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Paul Burling as the hilarious Wishee Washee.
So make sure you don't miss out and reserve your seat by calling the Box office on 01709 823621 or securing your seats online at the Rotherham Civic Theatre website.
Events across the borough on the countdown to Christmas
Festive feast of entertainment for all
Last Christmas may have been curtailed by Covid but we're making up for lost time with a wide range of entertainment to enjoy while you do your Christmas shopping this year.
The events above and below are just a small selection of what's on at locations across the borough during the festive season.
Keep an eye on the Rotherham Events Facebook Page for full details about what's on, where and when.
VIDEO: The Rotherham Christmas Lights Switch-on took place last Friday. Relive some of the highlights here.
A Rotherham couple will be making this Christmas extra special for children in care and foster families across our borough.
Michelle (54) and her husband Paul (64) - pictured on a family trip with their daughter - have been foster carers for the last ten years.
They are “Mockingbird Hub leaders”, which means they offer daytime and overnight (or “sleepover”) care to ten different local fostering families. This makes them a central part of many Rotherham teens’ lives who enter foster care and a lifeline for foster carers to get some downtime.
At this time of year and around Christmas Michelle and Paul work tirelessly to make it a magical celebration for the foster families. Last year, they created their very own Santa’s Grotto in their back garden, with a Father Christmas and elf on hand to give out gifts for the children and foster carers.

Local children have their say for Anti-Bullying Week
Children from Herringthorpe Infant School & Anston Park Junior School had some wise words to share as part of a special project for Anti-Bullying Week.
The theme for this year's event was One Kind Word and the children were asked, 'What does kindness mean to you?'
Watch this great video to see what they had to say - a reminder to all of us, whatever our age, that kindness matters.
Money-back offer for people affected by missed collections due to Covid
We’re pleased to confirm there will be a £4 discount for customers renewing their garden waste subscription for next year.
This is a goodwill gesture to thank brown bin users for their patience when we were unable to make two collections in summer 2021, due to COVID-related staff absences and a nationwide shortage of HGV drivers.
Customers who don’t wish to renew their service for next year will be able to apply for a £4 partial refund.
Renewals and sign-ups for the coming year’s service will open soon.
For further details see the Garden Waste Collections information on our website.
This Saturday, 4th December is Small Business Saturday - the annual event in celebration and support of small businesses.
Rotherham is lucky to have hundreds of small, independent businesses in our town centre and across the borough. You can find many of them on the Small Business Saturday finder here.
After a challenging year, it’s more important than ever to support them. By shopping locally you can be safe in the knowledge that more of your money is going back into the local economy.
If you're heading out tomorrow to support Small Business Saturday UK, don't forget it's FREE TO PARK in all Council off-street car parks.
