Reminder to nominate for the Long Service to Education before half term |
|
 |
Teach Portsmouth has received over 20 nominations for the Teach Portsmouth's long service to education event, to be held at Portsmouth Guildhall on 8 July from 4pm - 6pm. Those who are nominated and accept their invitation will enjoy afternoon tea and a trophy giving ceremony in the Mayor's Suite.
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 20 May.
Schools and colleges are reminded to put forward up to four members of staff who have worked in Portsmouth for 20 years or more. Due to venue capacity we are limiting schools/colleges to four submissions. If you have more than four people, we would still recommend schools/college completing the form and email additional nominations to teachportsmouth@portsmouthcc.co.uk
To help co-ordinate this process, we would recommend each setting appointing a single person to oversee submissions. Please visit the Teach Portsmouth website for more information.
We would like to thank the Salterns Academy Trust and University of Portsmouth for sponsoring this event.

#BeeWell survey 2026 - calling all Portsmouth secondary schools to sign up
We're encouraging all secondary schools to sign up to this year’s #BeeWell survey. We had five schools take part in last year's survey and it's our hope and ambition that every secondary school in the city participates this year, ensuring we gain the fullest picture possible of our pupils’ wellbeing.
Why take part?
- Gives schools a better understanding of pupil's wellbeing, strengthens pupil voice and offers support to turn insights into action.
- Helps services gain a better insight into young people’s lives, leading to more effective and joined‑up support
Complete the expression of interest form by 5th June 2026.

Walk this May – encourage your school community to take part in Walk to School Week (18–22 May)
This year, Walk to School Week takes place from Monday 18 to Friday 22 May. Run by charity Living Streets, schools are encouraged to promote the challenge, and ask parents, carers and pupils to get involved.
By walking, wheeling or cycling to school, children can boost their health and wellbeing while helping to reduce air pollution around their school.
Where families usually drive, schools can encourage them to park a short distance away and walk the rest of the journey. This simple change helps to reduce congestion and improve road safety at the school gates.
Please encourage your parents, carers and pupils to take part and give active travel a go during the week.

Have your say: The Big Future children’s survey
|
The Children’s Commissioner, Dame Rachel de Souza has launched The Big Future, a national survey giving children and young people the chance to share their views on their lives, communities and hopes for the future.
Schools and partners are asked to support and promote the survey, particularly encouraging participation from children with a social worker and those whose voices are often less heard.
The survey is open to children aged 0–18 and closes on Friday 23 October.
