This term's Getting to Good workshop was kindly hosted by Little Learners Day Care. Our Early Years Quality and Sufficiency Officers, Layla Riches and Vicky Taylor delivered an update regarding local Ofsted inspection outcomes and recommendations, EYFS safeguarding reforms and Ofsted early years inspection reforms. They then handed over to the Little Learners leadership team who provided an insightful talk regarding their own recent Ofsted inspection experience. Delegates benefitted from being able to tour the setting with members of the Little Learners team and gained practice and environment ideas for their own settings, as well as coming away feeling more confident and motivated for their own upcoming inspections.
Termly Getting to Good workshops are offered to providers who are due routine Ofsted inspections in the next calendar year or who are new providers and are awaiting first inspections. The venues and hosts change each time, as does the update from our officers. The next Getting to Good is happening on 12 November 2025 at 6.30pm - 8.00pm.
Please can you send the Portsmouth Transfer Record to schools for those children who are starting school in September. A number of schools are still awaiting information on children joining them, so sharing the Transfer Record is really important to help them understand needs and plan for a successful transition.

One child a month drowns at home
It’s scary to think that babies and small children are most likely to drown at home in the bath or in the garden. That's why Child Accident Prevention Trust's key message is to keep babies and small children in arms’ reach in water.
Many parents mistakenly believe bath seats will keep their baby safe, with potentially tragic consequences.
Please help spread the message that bath seats are not safety devices; the suction pads can fail (despite marketing claims of super strong suction), or babies can slip out.
