My Happy Mind programme update |
|
|
Health and Care Portsmouth are pleased to confirm that funding for the My Happy Mind programme is set to continue for a further year. We are really pleased with how well the programme has been received and utilised and it's lovely when we receive videos from schools describing the ways in which it has supported children's positive mental health, resilience and self-esteem. The qualitative and quantitative feedback we receive is always very positive and encouraging.
The funding arrangement will remain the same. The school will be expected to contribute £2 per child per year and Health and Care Portsmouth will fund the remainder. We need you to confirm whether you wish to continue with this arrangement for the next academic year.
If you decide not to continue with the programme, we'd be interested to know why and would appreciate your feedback. We'd also be interested in any general feedback on your experience of using the programme.
Please confirm that you would like to continue by contacting Stuart McDowell at Stuart.McDowell@portsmouthcc.gov.uk by Friday 26 April 2024.
We've also been able to secure a small amount of additional funds to extend the programme to more primary schools. The funding arrangement will remain the same as above. If you would like to know more about the programme, please contact Katie Ingham at katie.ingham@myhappymind.org or 07760 887664. You can also book an information session with Katie.
If any additional schools would like to use the programme, please contact Stuart McDowell at Stuart.McDowell@portsmouthcc.gov.uk by Friday 26 April 2024. Please be aware this is just an expression of interest at this stage, and we'll respond to you in May.

The testimonials from schools were strong with substantial evidence on the implementation of the tool and the platform seems to be gaining traction. 50 things to do before you're five |
|
|
It's here! The new, exciting and long awaited 50 things to do before you're five initiative has come to Portsmouth!
The Early Years Team and School Improvement are introducing this opportunity for families to get involved in 50 things and would like schools to share the leaflet with their parents through your websites, social media or by printing the leaflet and popping into book bags.
Whilst the 50 experiences are designed for our 0-5 year olds, all family members can get involved. No more rainy day nowhere to go or "Mum, I'm bored" moments because 50 things provides a wealth of active ideas which support learning. 50 things will help to develop and expand vocabulary, give families a focus for learning and playing together and make taking part in activities around the city fun!
So please encourage your families to download the app, visit the website and find an experience to take part in. It is free and all of the experiences are no or low cost.
Everyone is getting involved in 50 things…
- Gemma from the Early Years team and her daughter, Grace took part in Millenium Miles. See their experience here.
- Ella from the Early Years team and her daughter, Dilly took part in Woodland Wandering. See their experience here.
And look out for more 50 things ideas as our new initiative evolves.
Pioneering care and support
The Mockingbird programme, our pioneering foster care model, is a wraparound support service prioritising placement stability by offering the relationships and vital additional support akin to an extended family.
“My hub provide a massive amount of support and camaraderie, and I’ve made lifelong friendships with the other foster carers within my hub.” - Amanda, satellite foster carer
The model’s ‘constellations’ consist of six to ten fostering families with a skilled foster carer serving as a ‘hub carer’ at the centre offering peer support and guidance, as well as additional respite care in the form of sleepovers and social activities. Mockingbird strengthens relationships and permanence, and provides the chance for children to develop rapport with trusted adults and other young people in care.
