Portsmouth City Council is moving from the current Capita system to the new Synergy education management information system. We want to reassure you that we are not changing the way we currently fund providers, it is just the system that we use to collect the data from you that is changing. There are a number of elements that are the same as the current portal, that you are already familiar with, and a number of improvements that we think providers will find useful.

From April 2023 all funding claims for early education funding will need to be made using the new Synergy provider portal. You will be receiving your new log ins and passwords for the Synergy provider portal in the coming weeks. Please keep these securely ready to use from April 2023. We are currently in the final testing stages and our team will be here to support you through this transition period and beyond. We will also extend the availability of the actual headcount task for the summer term 2023 to ensure providers have enough time to familiarise themselves with the system and submit headcounts within the timeframe. The task will be available from 17 April 2023 with the final submission date being 5 May 2023.

All providers will need to access one of the three Synergy demonstration sessions. We have also planned some face to face drop in sessions during April for those that need further support. Guides and other resources will be available to support you and these will be added to the resources section of the Traded Services website.

A new scheme has been launched for low income parents of children who did not receive a supermarket voucher from their school or early years childcare provider in December. Vouchers will not be provided in respect of children who qualified for previous schemes.

For more information on eligibility and how to apply, please read the attached FAQ. The key points are:

  • For Portsmouth residents who are responsible for a child born on or after 1 September 2006, or are at least 10 weeks pregnant;
  • Who are eligible for Healthy Start, or earning less than £935 per calendar month;
  • This includes parents who did not receive a voucher in December because their child was not attending a participating school or childcare provider, including children who are home-schooled or attending school outside Portsmouth.

There will be two further schemes launching under Household Support Fund - Cost of Living Payment, and Warm Home Payment for Disabled People. Application forms for these are not yet live, but anyone wanting to apply can find out more about eligibility and register their interest to receive an email when the schemes go live, at Household support fund - register interest

New early years and childcare category launched in Teach Portsmouth Awards 2023 - Sponsored by: Homestart

The Teach Portsmouth team have announced the categories for this year's ceremony with the introduction of a new early years and childcare category. The team are encouraging early years settings to recognise staff as part of this category and across 10 others, if applicable.

This award recognises the talents of early years professionals in Portsmouth who have gone above and beyond in their settings. From childminders to nursery practitioners, this award showcases the very best early years and childcare talent the city has to offer.

The shortlisting panel will be looking for clear examples of early years and childcare professionals who have delivered outstanding service for children. In your nomination, please state how this individual has gone above and beyond.

The closing date for all nominations is Friday 10 March at 5pm. The Teach Portsmouth team always recommend a member of staff is appointed to lead on nominations to ensure everything is co-ordinated.
